Youth Fellowship
The E.X.F. of Emmanuel E.U,B,
Church met on Tuesday, Novem-
ber 3, with Miss Mary Finlay in
charge. Miss Elaine Grainger act-
ed as pianist. After the singing
of a hymn, Miss Elizabeth Finlay
read the Scripture lesson, and
Miss .Catherine Rader led in pray-
er. Elaine Grainger read a poem.
Mary Finlay gave the topic, en-
titled, "Overcoming evil with
good." We live in a world that
is a global community. It, is no
longer, "Around the world in 80
days." Three B -52s did it in
slightly more than 45 hours. With
nuclear warheads in our missiles
and hydrogen bombs in our planes,
we are in a position to touch off
a war that could bring most of
the houses in our world commun-
ity tumbling down upon our heads.
We should work to make our
nation Christian in the correct
sense of the term. We must first
admit part of the guilt that has
locked us in the cold war. We
should pray to God for forgiveness
for our nation and for the other
nations of the warld.
Christians must supoprt priv-
ate programs giving aid overseas.
Some of us may be called to go
overseas as missionaries. God has
blessed Canada with wealth and
the chance to give real service
to the world. We can grate-
fully thank God for His gifts and
work with Him for world peace
by overcoming evil with good."
The president, Elizabeth Fin-
lay, took charge of the business.
The meeting closed with the Miz-
pah Benediction.

Jonas Kewquedo
On Tuesday word was received
that Mr. Jonas Kewquedo, of
Naiscoot River, passed away in
his 68th year. He was born and
raised on the Shawanaga Indian
Reserve.
He was an expert in several
trades. In his young days he was
a commercial fisherman and oper-
ated a pool room at Shawanaga.
Then he was a blacksmith in
lumbercamps, also learned the
carpenter and stone mason. trades.
In 1937 when the highway was
completed from Point au Baril,
to Britt he built a house on the
Naiscoat Indian Reserve, where
he guided the tourists fishing and
hunting. He built several cottages
on islands at the mouth of the
Naiscoat River, mostly of log
construction.
He will be missed by his many
friends, as he was always will-
ing to give advise on fishing and
hunting when in that area, and
enjoyed his visits when he came
over to the Fritz's cottage.
Jonas made several trips to
Zurich the past years, staying at
Stanley Smith's cottage, where he
visited his friends in the Zurich
area.
play in the "B" category, Zurich
and Philipsburg are both "C"
teams, and after the regular sch-
edule will compete for the right
to go on in WOAA Intermediate
"C" competition.
Convener for the grouping is
Alfred Lockridge, Wingham, who
is business manager of the West-
ern Ontario Athletic Association.
Meanwhile the local Flyers are
continuing to whip into shape,
wath two practices each week.
They are quite confident they will
