The Photo Letter to Editor Zurich Citizens News, Zurich, Ont. Dear Mr. Editor: I wish to reply to the editorial in last week's Citizens News. On Sunday evening, Mr. Royal Moul- ton, general secretary of the On- tario Temperance Federation, ad- dressed a meeting at Emmanuel E.U.B. Church, Zurich. After the service, I received the following information from him. Mr. Moul- ton is the first layman to occupy this position, and he is well quali- fied for it, as he has been active in the temperance work for a long time. OBITUARY 1 Dan. 11. Steinbach WESTLAKE- FURNITURE Phone 89J Zurich A native of Zurich, Daniel H. Steinbach, Detroit, passed away in that city on Monday, Novem- ber 9, 1959, in his 90th year. Born in Hay Township on June 1, 1870, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Steinbach. Sixty-two years ago Mr. Stein- bach went to Detroit. where he worked as a carpenter. For a number of years he lived in Holly, Michigan. Hiswife, the former Minnie Heideman, Zurich, pre -deceased him about 14 years ago. They had., no family. The Editor claims that he has Sure :11'1Z are two brothers, it from good authority that the Henry, Zurich; ;: I'cd, Cavalier, government will not consider any changes if the- CTA is left in force. The temperance forces have been assured that if the majority for the CTA is 50 percent or more, we will get action on the amend- ments. The C'I'A has been amend- ed seven or eight times already. The LCA is constantly being amended. We also were urged to wait un- til after we are under the LCA, before the temperance campaign should begin. It was also stated that another vote would be neces- sary before any beverage rooms or cocktail lounges could be ppen- ed. Mr. Moulton stated that if the CTA is revoked, we are under the LCA. Those areas that were dry would require a vote. Any municipality could call a vote. Under the LCA, drinking goes on all over. It is also weak in law enforcement. It is claimed that Huron and Perthcannot be right and all the rest of Ontario wrong. Mr. Moulton answered, "Then Jesus Christ and His disciples were wrong in that case." Mr. Moulton pointed out in his address that Huron and Perth Counties have the lowest record of alcoholics in Ontario. That certainly should have some bearing on which act is the better, the CTA or the LCA, I have lived under both acts, and can say that there is much less drinking under the CTA. Yours sincerely, A. M. AMACHER. Zurich, Ontario, November 9, 1959. 0 (Additional. Letters To The Editor on Pages Two and Seven) North Dakota, and one sister, Mrs, Rudolph (Laura) Stade, Zurich. Three other brothers and two sisters pre -deceased him. The funeral will be held on Thursday, with burial taking place in Holly, Mich.
