Baby Elaine Ducharme, Blue - water Highway south, has return- ed home after spending three weeks with her aunt, Mrs. Ther- esa Hartman, while her parents were on a trip to the western pro- vinces. Mr. Wallace Ross and daughter Dorothy. Seaforth, were Saturday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Smith. Mrs. Albert Smith and Mrs. John VanAtta, Port Huron, were weekend visitors with their rela- tives, the O'Brien families. Calvin Williams, who spent a few weeks with his sister, Mrs. Eva Shaver, at Bright, has re- turned home. Mr. and Mrs. Mose Lineweber and the latter's two sisters of Stratford, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thiel and other relatives. Mr. Lineweber called on his cousin, Mrs. C. L. Smith. Rev. A. M. Amacher attended an executive meeting at the Main Street United Church, Exeter, on Tuesday forenoon, in the interest of the Temperance cause. "Read the Bible for inspiration, What is God saying to me? Bible Study is a necessary part of every Christian's life." Dennis Amacher played a piano solo, "Onward, Christian Soldiers" Norma Geiger presented the to- pic on "Why be a Christian to- day?" A young man said, "I have tried every way of life but the Christian way, and now I am go- ing to try it." Next evening, he brought his friend to the al- tar. "This is the real life. I have found it," he said. "We need God in our life". Why be a Christian today? "It is the most natural of anything in the world. God created us. Christ offered Himself and gave up His throne in Heaven to conte to earth. God is not far off from us. God is given a natural place in life. The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch, after the persecution of Stephen. They went all over preaching the gos- pe 1, Barnabas went to Tarsus to get Paul to help him present Ch- rist to the people. Paul spent a whole year there preaching Ch- rist." "What is a Christian? One who has accepted Christ as Saviour. Becoming a Christian is a per- sonal transaction (between the in- dividual and Christ. Paul's life was completely changed on the way to Damascus. He became a Christian." "If new worlds are discovered, it opens up a view of God's great- ness. He has created much that we have never known." "Why be a Christian? One can not afford not to be a Christ- ian. The Christian life brings joy. Try the Christian life." The president, Miss Elizabeth Finlay, took charge of the busin- ess session. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction. 0 The Ladies Auxiliary to the Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guid- es, are interested in organizing a Teen -Town group in Zurich, and are asking support of all the parents of teenagers in this dis- trict in helping them get the or- ganization started, A meeting to further discuss the idea is to be held in the Town Hall, on Thursday, October 29, at 9 p.m., immediately after the Girl Guide meeting, and all parents who may be interested are urged to be present. The L.A. would like all parents to discuss the idea with their children, and find out if they are hi favour of such an organization, and if they would attend the social affairs which would be held in connection with a Teen -Town. Parents will also be asked to help with the organization, such as chaperoning on social ocessions. A good turnout at the meeting on Thursday night will decide whether or not there will be a Teen -Town in Zurich.
