e ]so'als
because you get credit for it for
the E. Y, F. or Sunday School?
That is just a starter, Read the
Gospels with an open mind. Some
take the Bible for a reference
book. That can be real helpful
because you are seeking to know
all you can about God. General
knowledge of the Bible is a big
help,"

What is God saying to me? Bible
Study is a necessary part of every
Christian's life."
Dennis Amacher played a piano
solo, "Onward, Christian Soldiers"
Norma Geiger presented the to-
pic on "Why be a Christian to-
day?" A young man said, "I have
tried every way of life but the
Christian way, and now I am go-
ing to try it." Next evening,
he brought his friend to the al-
tar. "This is the real life. I have
found it," he said. "We need God
in our life".
Why be a Christian today? "It
is the most natural of anything
in the world. God created us.
Christ offered Himself and gave
up His throne in Heaven to conte
to earth. God is not far off from
us. God is given a natural place
in life. The disciples were called
Christians first in Antioch, after
the persecution of Stephen. They
went all over preaching the gos-
pe 1, Barnabas went to Tarsus to
get Paul to help him present Ch-
rist to the people. Paul spent a
whole year there preaching Ch-
rist."
"What is a Christian? One who
has accepted Christ as Saviour.
Becoming a Christian is a per-
sonal transaction (between the in-
dividual and Christ. Paul's life
was completely changed on the
way to Damascus. He became a
Christian."
"If new worlds are discovered,
it opens up a view of God's great-
ness. He has created much that
we have never known."
"Why be a Christian? One can
not afford not to be a Christ-
ian. The Christian life brings joy.
Try the Christian life."
The president, Miss Elizabeth
Finlay, took charge of the busin-
ess session. The meeting closed
with the Mizpah Benediction.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the
Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guid-
es, are interested in organizing
a Teen -Town group in Zurich,
and are asking support of all the
parents of teenagers in this dis-
trict in helping them get the or-
ganization started,
A meeting to further discuss the
idea is to be held in the Town
Hall, on Thursday, October 29, at
9 p.m., immediately after the Girl
Guide meeting, and all parents
who may be interested are urged
to be present. The L.A. would like
all parents to discuss the idea
with their children, and find out
if they are hi favour of such an
organization, and if they would
attend the social affairs which
would be held in connection with
a Teen -Town.
Parents will also be asked to
help with the organization, such
as chaperoning on social ocessions.
A good turnout at the meeting
on Thursday night will decide
whether or not there will be a
Teen -Town in Zurich.

IN MEMORIAM
In loving memory of Jessie
Oesch, who passed away Octobei
31, 1958:
"Gone is the one I loved so dear,
Gone from her earthly home,
But oh what a consolation
Just to know she is not alone.
For she is dwelling up above,
With One who knows what's
best,
And though we miss her dearly,
We know she is at rest."

I'd rather one w
the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear;
Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.
The best of all the preachers are the men who LIVE
their creeds,
For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.
I soon can team to do it, if you let me see it done.
I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too
fast may run.
The lectures you may deliver may be wise and true,
But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you DO.
1 may not understand the high advice you give,
But there's no misunderstanding how you ACT and how
you LIVE." — Anonymous.
