Many from this surroundings
and highway attended the wed-
ding reception for the Meidinger
and Denomme wedding, held in
Zurich this past Saturday night.
The young couple were the recip-
ients of many valuable gifts from
their relatives and friends, which
shows the high esteem in vyhich
they are held. We wish the young
couple many years of blissful mar-
ried life.

on, and the beautiful scenery
along the way.
Going through first the lower
part of the state of Michigan,
where once was a lumbering state,
and after the large trees were
out left a heavy stand of second
growth, already half size, to
beautify the scenery.
Travelling on to Mackinac,
where they crossed the straits, on
one of the largest bridges sus-
pended on anchorage to support
its mileage. The bridge, costing
millions of dollars, and perched
high above water level, makes
one wonder how man can, by his
hidden sense of judgement, devel-
op from his ideas such scientific
work to astonish the world.
The Ducharmes were much im-
pressed by the almost impossible
structure of the bridge. They
then continued their trip inthe
upper part of Michigan, thence
through one corner of Wisconsin,
that gave them thrilling moments
as they travelled on. (to be con
tinued) .
A Forethought
Western Trip
After the Ducharmes were en -
route for four days on their Wes-
tern trip, the folks at home were
informed daily of their where-
abouts. They report travelling
610 miles each day for the first
and second, a distance of 1,220
miles. They were impressed with
the excellent highways to travel

On Monday last the country at
large celebrated what is known
as Thanksgiving Day. Places of
business closed their doors for the
day, some took out on long plan-
ned trips throughout the country-
side, some across the border, some
to cities or towns where they have
relatives or friends, while others
preferred just to stretch and loaf
around home.
It seems relatively hard for us
to grasp the real meaning of the
day, yet it was established for
one purpose, and that to thank
God for the many favours accord-
ed us during the past year. The
day was proclaimed so by the
most brilliant minds, to give the
citizens of their country an in-
road, a thought of the past bles-
sings received. Yet in the face of
it all, not too many respond to it.
As aforesaid, people will travel
to and fro from place to place,
on the highways and byways,
front streets and back streets of
their village or town and all of
their roaming for pleasure seek-
ing.
How many will you find paus-
ing and kneeling in a place of
worship, or in their parish church,
or in their homes, giving thanks
to God, for all he or she has re-
ceived or been blessed with. Some
have asked for improved health
to enjoy happiness, others for fin-
ancial difficulties, while again
others ask for prosperity in their
undertakings. The faithful ones,
on Thanksgiving Day will tell you
that their prayers have been
heard in times of hard luck, . in
times of sickness or despair, or in
times when all seemed to have
been lost.
For those who had the fore-
thought and goodwill of rendering
thanks, they will begin the com-
ing year with an enlightened
spirit which will guide them along
the rough and crooked road of life
for another year.
