On Saturday last, or the wee
Sunday morning, meant the pass-
ing of Daylight Saving Time for
another term. Perhaps after ar-
guments are thoroughly thrashed
out it might mean its passing def-
initely.
When commenting we feel there
is no gain for anyone, or neces-
sary hours saved. We believe put-
ting it into effect is a routine of
past years and not realizing its
full meaning on one hand, and on
the other not realizing the incon-
venience caused the farmers and
also to the housewives preparing
their children for their daily task.
Farmers on their own are helpless
in rebuking the movement and
rather than take contrarytsteps
they prefer resigning to
It has brought confusion to the
country at large and will as long
as there will be a ruling feeling
by the authorities to keep it up.
Sometimes the favourite of day-
light saving time will take their
alibi to say the city has it and
what else can the villages and
burgs in farming districts do if
they do not unionize with them.
The answer to that is simple
and plain, the city people are self
supporting, having their own rou-
tine they work days and nights
on shifts. They have their own
shipping quarters and receiving
centres for all their goods night
and day and paying little atten-
tion to the starting hour whether
it be on Standard or on Daylight
times.
So next spring is yet a distance
away before we can expect Day-
light Saving Time to again make
its appearance. With all the dis-
agreement going on between coun-
tries much can happen before
then,
causing
complete
ofboth Standard
and Daylight
time and instead of this land of
ours being a land of roses, could
well be a heap of ashes giving
priority to none.
