The regular meeting of Hens -
all Council was held Monday night
following the second court of re-
vision, at which time it was de-
cided to revert back to standard
time on Saturday midnight, Sept-
ember 26.
At the request of Howard Scene
the usual grant of $70 was made
to the Hensall School Fair Board.
All dogs running at large will
be taken to the veterinarian in
Zurich and kept there for three
'days.
Council endorsed the request
from the municipality of the
NEW SIX ROOM HOME in Exe-
ter, 3 bedrooms, dining room, full
basement, garage, aluminum storms
and screens, oil heated, landscap-

Citizens In Hensall.

A special meeting, called for all
interested people of 50 and over,
to form a Senior Citizens Club,
was held at Hensall Memorial
Centre last Thursday night and
was largely attended. Different
activities for programs and meet-
ings were discussed at large,
these being outlined by J. R.
"Scotty" Hume, recreation direc-
tor.
It was suggested that at the
next meeting on Tuesday, Sept -
Township of Sarnia opposing drill-
ing operations for gas or oil in
Lake Huron.

Mrs. L. H. Rader is spending
some time with her daughters at

Mr, and Mrs. Ervin Latta, Wat-
erloo, spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Weiberg.
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rader, ac-
companied by Mr. ad Mrs. Well -
wood Gill, Grand Bend, visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Want
in Chatham on Sunday.
Mrs. Laura Petzold, Dunedin,
Florida, returned home Friday
after spending three weeks with
her sister and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Guenther.
Ladies Aid
The first fall meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies Aid was held on
Wednesday, September 9, with 21
members present.
This was a missionary meeting
and pastor Zorn took as a topic,
"Jesus the First Missionary".
Group discussion and Bible read-
ings brought out the theme. As-
sisted by several of the ladies
he also conducted closing devo-
tions under the heading "Pray
and Work".
Mrs. Milfred Merner presided
for the business. A letter of
thanks was received from New
Guinea, for the quilt and breech-
cloths received.
Amount cleared at the straw-
berry social was $414.93. A fowl
supper for the ladies and their
husbands will be held in October.
Ladies' Aid
The W.S.W.S. meeting of the
EUB church was held on Friday,
September 11, with the Mission-
ary Education group in charge
and Mrs. Eben Weigand as con-
vener.
Theme of the meeting was,
"The New Year", Mrs. Letta Tay-
lor read the Scripture reading and
Mrs. W. J. Gillings led in prayer.
Mrs. Louis Weigand and Mrs.
Ervin Schade gave readings and
Mrs. Howard Klumpp a solo.
Mrs. Carl Oestreicher, the presi-
dent, presided for the business
The group plans to present a
program at the County Home.
Five dollars was given to the Can-
adia National Institute for the
Blind. Used clothing for the Men-
nonite Missions is to be brought
to the October meeting, Mrs,
Reuben Goetz's name was added
to the memorial roll.
Attend Convention
Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Becker at-
tended the 40th annual convention
of the Home for the Aged at the
Queensway Hotel, St. Catharines,
last week, They also visited with
relatives at Niagara Falls and
Fort Erie.
Mr. and Mrs, Gord Muller, Don-
ald and Brian, London, spent last
Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Stire and family, also visit-
ing Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stire.

Local Leaguers At Convention
Miss Brenda Becker, RR 1,
Crediton, and Miss Carol Becker
and Robert Becker, Dashwood, re-
cently returned from attending
the 49th annual convention of the
Ontario District Walther League
of the Lutheran Church, Missouri
Synod, which was held at Huron
College, London.
84 representatives including 51
voting delegates attended the
three-day convention. They came
from 25 Lutheran congregations
as far east as Oshawa, north as
Owen Sound and west as Dash-
wood. Their average age ranged
from 13 to 24.
The program included recrea-
tion periods, meals, devotions,
Bible studies, as well as business
sessions and lectures. Reports
were received from committees on
league activities including sum-
mer camps; Wheatridge Christ-
mas Tuberculosis seals; Gamma
Delta - The Lutheran university
youth organization; publications,
finance and others. Zion Walther
League of Dashwood was com-
mended for its fine performance
in being one of the few leagues
to near its financial goal for New
Dimensions, a present project of
international.
Election of officers resulted as
follows, Paul Pollex, Stratford.
president; Diane Strahm, Strat-
ford, vice-president; Eifrieda
Schellenberger, Kitchener, secre-
tary; Mabel Hahn, New Hamburg,
treasurer; the Rev. Dayton Fritz,
Mitchell, as pastoral adviser.
Special speakers at the conven-
tion included Rev. Dr. Walter
Koerber, of Toronto Board of Ed-
ucation, Mr. Richard Hemma of
Chicago; Rev. Paul Eifert, Lon
don, and Rev. C. J. Killinger, Lon-
don. The Rev. K. Zorn, .Dashwood,
led the conventioners in, recrea-
tion on Sunday afternoon.

St. Boniface Roman Catholic
Church, Zurich, was the scene on
Saturday morning, September 5,
of the nuptial mass uniting in mar-
riage George Thomas Sloan, Sea -
forth, son of Mr. and Mrs. James
Sloan, Seaforth and Mary Eileen
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adel-
bert Smith, Zurich.
The Rev. C. A. Doyle officiated
at the double ring ceremony.
The bride wore white chantilly
lace over silk taffeta. The fitted
bodice featured jewwelled and se-
quined sabrina neckline and full
length lilypoint sleeves. The bouf-
fant skirt had a full front lace
panel and the back was alternate
tiers of lace and tulle illusion ruf-
fles. Her headdress was a circular
tiara of pearls and lace and fing-
ertip veil of French tulle illusion.
She carried red roses.
Miss Margaret Smith, Zurich,
vas maid of honour and Miss
Florence Sloan was bridesmaid.
They wore pure silk organza over
taffeta in romance blue. The torso
bodice featured rolled sabrina
necklines forming cap shoulders
and V back. Full skirts were ban-
ded above the hemline showing
four matching bows around the
skirt. Pleated pure silk headdres-
ses were in romance blue with
shoulder length matching veils.
They carried yellow and white
'mums.
Groomsmen were Joseph Sloan
and George Smith, and ushers
were Raymond Smith and Pat
Sloan, brothers of the bride and
groom.
Music was by Miss Cecelia Den-
omme, Zurich.
For the reception in Hay Town-
ship Community Centre, Zurich,
the bride's mother received in
blue satin with nylon net, and a
corsage of red roses. The groom's
mother wore blue flowered dress,
and corsage of white roses.
The bride travelled in a blue
woollen dress, with white hat,
!black shoes and purse, and a cor-
sage of red roses, After a two
week wedding trip in the United
States, the young couple will live
in Cobourg.

Helps Buy Dishes
For Hensall Arena

President Mrs. William Brown
president for the September meet-
ing of the Legion Ladies Auxil-
iarly, held in the Legion Hall on
Tuesday evening. She announced
to the meeting that $199 had been
donated towards the purchasing
of a complete table setting to the
Arena Park Board for use in the
auditorium.
$50 was donated to the artific-
ial ice.
The tenth birthday of the or-
ganization will be observed with a
turkey banquet on October 6.
Mrs. Brown and Mrs. E. Davis
were appointed as sports commit-
tee, representing Hensall Auxil-
iary to Zone 1. Mrs. Davis ex-
pressed her thanks to the girls
who worked on the blood donors
clinic, A motion was passed to
purchase a floor polisher.
Recreation reports were submit-
ted by Mrs. Howard Smale, and
a sick committee report by Mrs.
A. Clark. An application for mem-
bership into the auxiliary was re-
ceived from Mrs. Mary Ann Stan-
ton. Mrs. Mary Taylor won the
mystery prize.
