Tessier Stars In 'Kings ORA Win Over Hanover; Play Here Tonight Playing in Hanover last Satur- day afternoon, the Zurich Lum- berkings went one game up in their best -of -three semi-finals in the OBA Intermediate "13" play- offs. when they defeated the Han- over team 2-1, on Claude Tes- sier's neat three -hit pitching chore. The second game in the series will be played in Zurich to- day (Wednesday) , at 5 p.m., and if a third game is necessary it will also be played in Zurich, on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. drove a ball into deep shortstop territory, and the runner scored from third on the play. Only once after that stage of the game did Hanover threaten to score again, and that was in the last of the ninth when manager Bob Zister lined out a triple over left - fielder George Parker's head. He died on third, however, to end the game. Doug O'Brien was the only Zur- ich player to hit safely more than once. He had a single in. the first and a double in the third. Bill Craig also hit a double, in the first, Poor base running on the part of the locals cost them at least two or three runs which they should have had. They left a total of 11 runners on the bases throughout the game. Red Catches A former pepperpot on the Zurich team, "Red" Theander, who played shortstop here for several years, was on the Hanov- er line-up. He started the game at third base, and when the reg- ular catcher suffered an injured finger, Red went in to catch for the northern boys. He will, in all probability, be catching for them Zurich AB R, III E Doug O'Brien, 2b 5 Danny Trushinski, ss 4 Don O'Brien, 3b 5 Bill Craig, cf 3 John Wilson, c 5 Jerry Bell, ib 4 4 2 rf 0 3 Tessier Hot Big southpaw "Tex" Tessier pitched his best game of the sea- son, as he held the northern team to only three hits. He struck out 14 batters, and gave up only three bases on balls. At one time in the sixth and seventh innings he struck out four Hanover bat- ters in a row. In five innings throughout the game he faced only three men in an inning. Only once did the Hanover team have five men go to bat in one inning, and only four of their men were left on base throughout the game. Art Fidler started on the hill for Hanover, and gave way to their playing manager. Bob Zist- er, in the third, after Zurich had scored their two runs. Fidler gave up four hits and walked two before he was pulled. Zister proved to be a stumbling block for the locals, as he held them hitless until the eighth, when they got one hit, and then they added another hit in the ninth. He struck out four Zurich batters in the time he worked. Score Early All the scoring in the ball game came in the third inning. Doug O'Brien led off the inning with a double, and was safe at third when Danny Trushinski reached first on a fielder's choice. Trush- inski stole second, and when a ground ball by Don O'Brien was booted by the Hanover second - baseman Doug O'Brien scored and Trushinski advanced to third, from where he scored on a wild pitch. At this stage of the game Zister came in to pitch, and held Zurich scoreless for the rest of the game. Hanover scored their lone run in the last of the third, when Fidler walked and went all the way around to third on an at- tempted pick -off play.
