Union and Hensall Coach Set Up
Three -Mau Board in Wage Dispute
Both the union and the com-
pany have appointed representa-
tives to a three-mah conciliation
board to deal with the Hensall
Coach dispute but no agreement
has been reached on a chairman
yet, it was revealed last week.
The three-man board was or-
dered set up by Norman C. Soady,
conciliation officer of the Ontario
Department of Labour, whose at-
tempts to bring about an agree-
ment were unsuccessful.

Under the regulations, both
parties appoint one man to the
board and they must agree on
the naming of a chairman. If
they fail to select a chairman,
the department may appoint one.
One official said it may take a
month before the board is form-
ally constituted.
Conciliator Soady recommended
formation of the board after hear-
ing the arguments of both sides
on Thursday, July 23.

Lumberkings Eke Out 3-2 Victory
Over St. Marys in first Playoff Game
Two passed balls and a wild
pitch in the last inning enabled
the Zurich Lumberkings to
squeeze out a 3-2 victory over
the St. Marys Legionaires in the
first game of their best -of -five
playoff series, played in Zurich
last Friday night. Only six in-
nings were played in the con-
test, due to the late arrival of
the visiting team and the umpires.

Take First Final
From Dashwood
Mitchell Lincolns took the first
game of their best -of -five playoff
series with the Dashwood Tigers
in Mitchell last Friday night by
a score of 6-5. Bob (Cy) Sadler,
who is the president of the Hur-
on -Perth league, won the game
for his team in the eighth in-
ning when he came on in a pinch-
hitting role and smashed out a
triple to drive in the winning
run. Eight innings were played.
Sadler's blow came after Dash-
wood hurler Steve Mitro had trip-
led in the top of the eighth driv-
ing in two runs to tie the score
at 5-5. It was Mitro's second hit
of the game. Don Genttner also
tripled. for the losers in the third
inning. Jim Hayter, Irv. Ford, and
Don McKellar each hit safely
once for the Tigers.
Murray Colquhoun was top man
with the wood for Mitchell, bang-
ing out two singles. Along with
Sadler's triple Charlie Westman,
Linc Rohfritsch, Joe Murphy, and
Wayne Pauli each had singles.
McKellar started on the mound
for Dashwood, and was replaced
by Steve Mitro after the Lin-
colns had jumped him for four
runs in the first inning. Mitro
struck out eight Mitchell batters,
and up until the eighth inning he
gave up only one hit.
Gary Hopf was on the hill for
Mitchell, and lasted until the big
eighth when Dashwood tied the
score. He was then replaced by
Gibson.

game for the locals as he smash-
ed out three hits in three times
at bat. He had a triple in the
first, a single in the third, and a
double in the fifth. His double was
a deep drive to right field, which
bounced over the fence for a
ground -rule double, or it may eas-
ily have been a home run, John
Wilson, besides scoring the win-
ning run, smashed out two singl-
es in three times at bat.
St. Marys opened the scoring
in the first inning, after the first
two batters had singled. Two er-
rors allowed the two runners to
score. Only once during the rest
of the game did the visitors
threaten to score, that in the
fourth inning, when one runner
got as far as third base.
The first two Zurich runs came
in the third inning, after Dick
Bedard had led off with a double
down the right -field line. He was
sacrificed to third by Doug
O'Brien, and then scored on Don
O'Brien's single. O'Brien advanc-
ed to second on an error and
then scored on Bill Craig's line
single.
John Wilson scored the winning
run in the last inning, when he
reached first on a single, took
second on a wild pitch, advanced
to third on a passed ball, and
then scored on another passed
ball.
Jerry Bell, on the mound for
the locals, pitched effective ball,
giving up only four hits in the
game. He struck out five St.
Marys batters, and gave up only
four walks. Bob Graham, throw-
ing for St. Marys, gave up eight
hits, struck out four and gave
up only one base on balls.
The locals were playing without
the services of two of their reg-
ulars, Danny Trushinski and Am
Meyer were both home sick with
the summer flu.
