ST. JOSEPH and DRYSDALE
(AL. FRED
DUCHARME, Correspondent)
Joseph Gelinas, Kenkora, who
is in residence with Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Corriveau of tliat village,
and Leo Gelinas, Fielding, Sask-
atchewan, were callers with
friends on the Bluewater highway
on Friday last, The latter left
this parish many years ago for
the western provinces, where he
established a home.. Like many
natives of this parish he has found
many changes, and naturally
many of the old timers have gone
to the far -beyond. It was pleas-
ing to converse with him of the
many past incidents of years ago,
the only regret being that the
time was too short to satisfy our-
selves.
Elmer Zimmer, Grand Bend,
gave Mr. and Mrs. F. Ducharme
a friendy call on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Masse, De-
troit, spent a few days holiday-
ing in this neighbourhood with
relatives and friends, also atten-
ding to farm business before re-
turning to their home.
Gerard Jeffrey took a few
days off work last week visiting
in the St. Joseph area, also motor-
ing to Windsor and Toronto on
business. He returned to St. Jos-
eph on Saturday.
Cutting and combining wheat
has started and by the end of the
week much will have been harves-
ted and sent on to the market
board. It was feared after the

dry it absorbed the water quickly.
Mrs. Theresa Hartman, Zurich,

on Sunday.
Comments
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Laporte,
St. Joseph, motored to Windsor
this past week. The object of
their trip was to bring back a
baby boy for adoption.
The Laporte's are childless,
and their act to adopt a child will
pay them over a hundred fold.
There is no better way to exer-
cise an act of charity than to pick
up a homeless child, and be wil-
ling to share with it the many
things we possess.
While it is true that babies left
in homes receive much care dur-
ing their tender years, after an
advancing age they are dischar-
ged from that care and placed in
foster homes.
There is much contentment in
adopting a child. It requires
much care and attention, but
there is no comparison in caring
for one child in campared to rais-
ing a large family. Those who have
gone through the ordeal of rais-
ing a large family are the hap-
piest people today. They per-
haps enjoy life more than any-
one else, especially after they
reach the midway point of life.
