HomeMy WebLinkAboutZurich Citizens News, 1959-07-15, Page 11'WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 1959 Leonard Wurm Word was received in Zurich on Tuesday by Mrs. Emma Schilbe, of the passing of her brother, Leon- ard Wurm, in Clearwater, British Columbia, in his 69th year. Mr. Wurm was born in Zurich, and has lived in British Columbia for about 40 years. The funeral service will be held in Clearwater, on Thursday, July 16, Surviving besides his wife, the former Tillie Vincent, Dashwood, are two sons, Albert and Louis, both of Clearwater, and one daughter, Leona. Besides Mrs. Sehilbe, there is one other sister, Mrs. Charles Gossman, Pt. JOSEPH— D YSDALE (By AL Fred Ducharme) Mr. and Mrs, Leonard Gerom- ette and family, Detroit, spent a few days in St. Joseph and sur- roundings. The Geromette's were for a few years citizens of the Zurich vicinity, and it was a plea- sure for them to renew old ac- quaintances, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Edsel and kiddies and Mrs. E. Charrette, all of Detroit, called on relatives in this neighbourhood enroute to Goderich on Monday last, where they will spent a few days with relatives in that town. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Fleming, daughter Linda, and son Jimmy, were Sunday last callers with their grandparents on the Bluewater highway, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Corriveau and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey and family motored to London on Sun- day last. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Masse, Goderich, were Sunday visitors with the former's parents and oth- er relatives in St. Joseph, and the Bluewater highway. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mernorvidge Sr., Detroit, are spending a few weeks in their summer cottage at Ducharme's beach. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Ducharme, Detroit, called on relatives in this neighbourhood recently. Mr. Du- charme has been away from this settlement for many years, mak- ing his home in Detroit. Jimmy Pfaff, Trenton, a grand- son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pfaff, of the Bayview summer resort, is spending his holidays with his gr- andparents. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Overholt and son, London, spent the weekend with relatives in the Drysdale dis- trict. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ducharme, of the 14th concession, motored to Port Huron on Saturday, visiting with relatives there and in Sarnia. They returned to their home on Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Ted Laporte and daughter returned to their home in Windsor after spending a few weeks in their summer cottage at Laporte's summer resort. They were accompanied back by their son, Jackie, who spent the week- end with his parents. Receives Promotion Mr. Jean Pesant, Montreal, com- mander of the Van Dous, for the Imperial Oil Company, was recent- ly promoted to the head office at Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Pesant will establish their new home in To- ronto. Mrs. Pesant is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cantin, St, Joseph. After spending the weekend with the Cantins the young couple left for Toronto. where Mr. Pesant will take up his new duties. We welcome them to our province, and wish them pros- perity. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Cantin and family, Lansing, Mich., spent a few days with the former's parents in St. Joseph, on their way to Mont- real, where they will spend their vacation. Mr. Emil Cantin, a son of the Cantins of St. Joseph, has been transferred as manager of a shop- ping centre in Rouyn, Quebec, to a new centre in Lambert. We con- gratulate the native born of this parish for his advancement in the business world. A ferris wheel, swings, pony rides will be required to close down at 11.30 p,m. to prevent dis- turbance to residents nearby. It will not be allowed to operate on Sundays before 1 p.m. Council also required that the concession owner remove a test - your -strength machine and replace a noisy gas motor with an electric motor. A group of businessmen and cot- tage owners protested the noise of the concessions, located in the vacant lot created by the demoli- tion of the Lakeview House. Both the owner of the property and the concessionaire agreed to co- operate.
