Rev. W, F. Krotz left last Wed-
nesday to attend the Western Con-
ference of the EUB Church, at
Edmonton, Alberta. He will be at
one of his former charges where
he was minister for ten years, as
well as many other places familiar
to him.
MARY JANE BURT
At the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Ed Turnbull, the former
Mary Jane Kent passed away Wed-
nesday, June 3, 1957, in her 91st
year.
Her husband, the late Charles
Burt, passed away last July.
Surviving besides her daughter
are two sons, James, Mindemoya,
and Alfred, Gore Bay.
The body rested at the T. Harry
Hoffman runeral home, Dashwood,
where a service was held Thurs-
day, June 4. Rev. A, E. Holley,
pastor of Grand Bend United Ch-
urch, officiated.
Service was held Saturday, June
6, at Gore Bay, with interment in
Gordon Cemetery, Manitoulin Is-
land.

The regular meeting of Dash-
wood Women's Institute was held
Tuesday, June 2, with the citizen-
ship committee and Mrs. Wallace
Becker, convener, in charge,
Roll call was responded to by
naming a former British Queen.
Mrs. Gordon Bender commented
on the motto, "Be of use to men
and you will learn to love them."
Margaret Merner played a piano
solo and she and her mother also
favoured with a piano duet.
Mrs. Ervine Devine spoke on,
"Elizabeth Our Queen", for the
topic. Pictures of the Royal family
made a fitting display. A magic
fish pond not only added to the
treasury but provided plenty of
fun.
Mrs. Leonard Schenk, president,
presided for the business. The in-
stitute is to be in charge of a
booth for the School Area sports
day on June 23.
A membership contest, with
Mrs. Syd Baker and Mrs. Wallace
Becker as captains, is to be held
in the fall. A picnic is planned for
July 29. Mrs. Arnold Kuntz, gave
a report of the district annual
held at Grand Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader and
family and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Rader and boys were Sunday
guests with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Prang and family in Zurich.
Parents of children in room one
and all parents and pre-school
children of Dashwood Public Sch-
ool are asked to remember the
picnic on Friday afternoon, June
12, at Grand Bend beach, The
teacher, Mrs. Adah Webb, will be
in charge.
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Rader and
family were Sunday guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Garnet Weiberg and
family at Waterloo.
Mr. and Mrs. George Gilbert
and Miss Ellen Gilbert, Stratford,
were weekend guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Courtney Burmeister,
Mr. and Mrs. James Hayter and
family spent Sunday at Goderich
with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fritzley.
Celebrate 48th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs, E. G. Kraft were
honoured by their family on Sun-
day, June 7, on the occasion of
their 48th anniversary, with a
family dinner.
Present were their children, Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Kraft and family
and Miss Lorna Kraft, all of Lon-
don; Gordon, Mr, and Mrs. Ken
Kraft and Pastor and Mrs. K. L.
Zorn, and Debbie. Flowers were
also placed in Zion Lutheran ch-
urch,
Ladies Aid
The Ladies Aid of the Dashwood
Evangelical Church met last Fri-
day night for their regular mon-
thly meeting, with the Spiritual
Life group in charge. Mrs. Jessie
Rader was convener.
The Scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. Charles Snell, and Mrs.
Carl Oestreicher led in prayer.
Mrs. George Link spoke to the
group on the subject, "Missionary
Work in the Dominican Republic".
A duet was sung by Mrs. Char-
les Snell and Mrs. Carl Oestreich-
er. Mrs. Wes England gave an
interesting reading.
Plans were finalized at the
meeting for the Ham and Straw-
berry supper, which the ladies are
going to sponsor in the church
on Wednesday, June 24.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Snell
spent Sunday with relatives in
London.
Mrs. Pearl Salmon, London, vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Sal-
mon and girls.
Mrs. Frieda Yaussi and son,
London, spent the weekend with
relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Stelch are vis-
iting with their son, Mervyn, at
Brantford.
Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Ford and
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Miller and
girls, spent Sunday at Guelph with
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gusso.

Young Folk At
EUB Church Meet
The Evangelical Youth Fellow-
ship of Emmanuel EUB Church
met on Tuesday, June 2, with
Miss Emma Finlay in charge of
the program. After the singing of
a hymn, Roy McAdams read the
Scripture, and Rev. A. M. Annach-
er led in prayer.
The topic was presented by Miss
Elizabeth Finlay. It was entitled,
"In one world together". "Science
has transformed life today. Our
world is getting smaller and small-
er. The beginning of the atomic
age was when the first atomic
bomb was released. Has it brought
harm or benefit to the world? It
can either be destruction or great
benefit."
"World fellowship is promised
by the Communists. But they have
no room for Christian beliefs. Ten-
sions are produced in the world.

Lumberkings Host
To St. Marys
Here To -night '
The Zurich Lumberkings will
once more try to open the base-
ball season locally, tonight,
when they play host to St,
Marys. In a game in the Stone
Town last Friday night the two
teams battled to a 1-1 tie.
Game time to -night is set for
6,30 o'clock.

Lutheran Ladies
Plan Reception
For New Minister
A devotional half hour opened
the June meeting of the Lutheran
Ladies Aid, with Mrs. Emma Sch-
ilbe in charge. Two hymns, "Come
Thou Almighty. Kiang"' and "Sweet
Hour of Prayer" were sung, foll-
owed by responsive reading of
Psalm 46.
Mrs. Bert Klopp reported mak-
ing 12 calls to the sick and shut-
ins. A cash d'onatibn was given
to the Ladies Auxiliary of Water-
loo College.
Plans were made for a recep-
tion in honour of Pastor Fischer,
his wife and family. They will be
arriving next week.
Mrs. Ed. Deters expressed a vote
of thanks to Mrs. Ray Fisher, con-
vener of the Parsonage Committee,
for the redecorating and work
that has been done in the parson-
age.
The meeting closed with the pr-
aying of the Lord's Prayer.
