Jerry Bell Stars
In Lum.berkings
Tie With St. Marys
Despite a brilliant one -hit pit-
ching effort on the part of south-
paw Jerry Bell, the Zurich Lum-
berkings were only able to salvage
a 1-1 tie in their game with St.
Marys, in the stone town last Fri-
day night.
While Bell was holding his op-
ponents hitless through six and
one-third innings, his team mates
were banging out seven hits, in-
cluding three by Bell himself. Bill
Yungblut added two, with single-
tons going to John Wilson and Bill
Craig.
Zurich scored their lone run in
the first inning after Don O'Brien
received a base on balls. Bill Yung-
blut advanced him to second, and
he scored on Wilson's single.
St, Marys' run came in the last
of the seventh, when Gary Vowel
reached first on a base on balls.
He advanced to second on a passed
ball, and then scored when pinch -
hitter Graham came through with
a single, the only hit of the game
for the stone-towners. Bell gave
up five walks throughout the sev-
en -inning contest.
