JUNE, 1919
The Ladies Aid of the Lutheran
Church have again arranged to
give meals at the Dominion Hotel,
Zurich, on the last day of the
Zurich Fall Fair.
Rev. Roy M. Geiger has been
stationed at Woodstock as pastor
of the Methodist Church of that
city.
Mr. F. C. Kalbfleisch will oper-
ate his sawmill again next week
and advises all parties having logs
in his yards to arrange to have
them sawed.
Zurich baseball team went to
Brussels last Thursday and played
the team of that town a friendly
game, beating them 8-4. Although
Brussels put up a good game the
local team was too much for them.
Twenty-three business men in
Zurich agreed to close their res-
pective places of business every
Thursday afternoon in each week
during the months of June, July,
and August; said businesses to be
closed at the hour of 12 o'clock
and remain closed until the next
morning.

JUNE, 1934
Mr. Alf Melick, reeve of Hay,
is attending Huron County Coun-
cil in Goderich this week.
Mr. Calvin Williams was a visit-
or with friends in Detroit over
the weekend.
Messre. A. F. Hess and R. F.
Stade, accompanied by members
of the Board of Trade in Hensall
motored to Goderich Thursday
evening where they interviewed
Mr. George Elliott, the Conserva-
tive candidate in regards to hav-
ing the road from Hensall to St.
Joseph taken over as a provincial
highway.
This week we are called upon
to cronicle the passing of one of
Hay Township's pioneer residents
in the person of Mr. Henry Reich-
ert, who was called unto his etern-
al reward on Friday, June 1.
Miss Edith Klopp, London, spent
the weekend at her home in Zu-
rich.
Miss Alice Decker is engaged at
Oakwood Lodge, Grand Bend, for
a week or so.

JTJNE, 1944
Mr. and Mrs, Leroy O'Brien and
sons spent Sunday with relatives
in Galt. They were accompanied
home by Mrs. W. H. Hoffman,
who had been visiting at the home
of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence Hoffman, in that city.
The Fritz families enjoyed the
cool Lake Huron breezes in their
cottage at Grand Bend over the
weekend.
Privates Jack Adams, Leeland
and Clair Surerus, Ralph Uttley
and Calvin Thiel, who are in the
aimed services, sent letters of
thank you to Mrs. Tom Meyers
for the kindness of the Women's
Institute in sending them such
lovely boxes of goodies.
Building operations at the re-
building of the Kalbfleisch mills
are progressing slowly. The fine
new 60 ft. stack is now completed
and is much credit to the work-
men, Henry Howeld and Michael
Meidinger, who built it.
Pilot Officer Allan Gascho, of an
eastern point, was a visitor at his
home here this week.

JUNE, 1949
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan L. Kalbfleisch
of town were privileged to open
their home to their distinguished
guests of honour, Prime Minister
of Canada, the Rt. Hon. Louis St.
Laurent, Mrs. St. Laurent and
their daughter, Mrs. M. Samson,
immediately preceeding the Prime
Minister's tour of the district.
Miss Betty Mousseau, nurse -in -
training at Stratford General Hos-
pital, is holidaying with her par-
ents, Mr, and Mrs. Herb Mousseau.
Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Schoek
and Mr. and Mrs, James Parkins
spent a very pleasant weekend
up on their island in the Parry
Sound district, where the men en-
gaged in some very fine fishing.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Laidlaw
(bridal couple) have returned
home from a pleasant trip to the
western province of Manitoba.
Mrs. Frank Corriveau, 68, died
on Friday, June 3, at her home in
Stanley Township, near Drysdale.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oestreicher,
Dashwood, motored to Montreal.
