To Hensall Carmel
The congregation of Carmel
Presbyterian Church, Hensall, met
at the church Tuesday night and
held a reception in honor of their
new minister and his wife, Rev.
and Mrs. George Vaise. They re-
cently took up residence in the
manse, Rev. Vaise having accept-
ed a call to become minister of
the church.
Glenn Bell was chairman for the
evening and extended the wel-
come. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell
formed the reception committee.
A very enjoyable program was
presented, which included the fol-
lowing numbers: monologue by
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and Mrs.
Archie Hoggarth; guitar selection,
"Red River Rose", by Jim Love;
reading, Mrs. Robert Madge; vo-
cal duet, "Jesus Loves the Little
Ones Like Me" and "The Whole
Wide World in His Hands," Grant
and Kenneth Jones; piano solo,
Miss Carol Brown; vocal solo,
"Bless This House," by Mrs. Wil-
liam Brown; piano duet, Mrs. Mal-
colm Dougall and Mrs. Ed Munn;
vocal duet by the Jones boys, ac-
companied on the guitar by Jim
Love.
Rev. Vaise spoke briefly, stating
he was looking forward to his stay
in Hensall and to the work of the
congregation.
When success turns a man's
head, he is facing failure.

Luther League
Regular Meeting
The Luther League held its
regular meeting on May 24,
opening with the singing of a hymn
'Sweet the Moments Rich in Bles-
sing." Psalm I was read by Earl
Wagner; Scripture lesson by Mary
Ellen Thiel; hymn, "Jesus Keep Me
Near the Cross"; prayer by Louis
Wilbert and topic "To Go or Not
To Go Steady," by Sharon Law-
rence.
Following the topic the League
was divided into two groups and
were given five questions to dis-
cuss. The questions were as fol-
lows:
(1) What are the rewards of go-
ing steady during high school age?
(2) What are the rewards of
having many friends at this age?
(3) What are the pros and cons
of starting to go "Steady" at 15
years of age? 20? 25?
(4) What are the values of a
long courtship?
(5) Should young people marry
secretly?
After a discussion period of 15
minutes, getting opinions from
both boys and girls, the Leaguers
returned to their seats and the
president asked the questions one
at a time, giving each group time
to give their opinions.
