Baseball Opener
This Friday Night
After being rained out in the
opening baseball game of the sea-
son last Saturday night, the Zur-
ich Lumberkings will attempt to
play the opener this Friday night,
but against their old rivals, the
Dashwood Tigers, instead of the
Walkerton team.
The Dashwood team is reported
to be considerably stronger than
they were in past years, and so
the locals will have to be on their
toes if they wish to come through
with a victory.
Two new players will line with
the locals in this contest. Former
stars with the Clinton Colts, John
Wilson and Bill Craig have signed
up with Zurich. A third new play-
er, Ken Patterson, a former pitch-
ing, star with the Clinton team,
will join the squad next week.

1,200 Beds For,
Huron Hospital

Premier Leslie Frost last Wed-
nesday confirmed the plans for
building a 1,200 bed hospital on
the shore of Lake Huron near the
county town of Goderich. Appear-
ing in the riding on 'behalf of the
Huron Progressive Conservative
candidate, Charles MacNaughton,
Exeter, Mr. Frost stated that ac-
tive construction could be expec-
ted to start this summer.
"The cornerstone of this new
hospital," said the premier, "wl

eter. I stated that she would be
asked to do this task, when I spoke
on the day of Tom's funeral. I
intend to see that this is carried
out, as a tribute to my very great
friend and advisor, Thomas Pryde,
who passed away just a little over
a year ago." •

According to three executive
members of the Dashwood Tigers
ball club, Wally Wein, Joe Merner
and Ken McRae, who visited the
office of the Citizens News this
past Saturday afternoon, their hall
team is ready and anxious to get
at the Zurich Lumberkings in the
season's opener this Friday night
in Zurich.
The re organization meeting of
the Dashwood team took place last
week, and saw a strong executive
picked to handle the team this
year. President is Jack Ratz; fir-
st vice-president, Joe Merner; sec-
ond vice president, Stewart Webb;
secretary -treasurer, Mervyn Tie -
man; executive directors, Ken Mc-
Rae, Dr. V. Gulens, Howard
Klumpp, Ervin Rader, Harold
Schroeder, Milton Webb, Sid Bak-
er, Aaron Oestreicher, Charles"Re-
gier, and Wally Wein.
Manager of the team this year
will be Jim Hayter, who is coun-
ting on a number of players from
Exeter to bolster his squad. His
starting pitcher on Friday night
will be either Robbie Wein, who
has returned to Dashwood from
Sudbury (according to Wally), or
Don McKellar, former Exeter star
from Centralia RCAF Station.
