WALKERTON vs. ZURICH 'KINGS
TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!!
The baseball season in Zurich officially opens
next Saturday, with the Walkerton Capitals, one
of the six new entries in the league, providing
the opposition. This game promises to be an
interesting affair, as newcomer to the Zurich
team, Danny Trushinski, will be playing against
his former team-mates.
Nine Teams
The nine teams which will be taking part
in a home and home schedule this season are:
'Goderich, Walkerton, Listowel or Harriston,
Wingham, Blyth, Mitchell, Dashwood, St. Marys
:and Zurich. Most of the teams will be playing
a home and an away game each week. All the
new faces will be sure to provide ball fans with
outstanding entertainment this season.
Locals Ready
Locally, the Lumberkings will be lined up
the same as last year, with a couple of excep-
tions. The infield will be the same as last year,
with the exception of short-stop position. Danny
'Trushinski, who replaced James Wild at the
local Bank of Montreal, will be taking over the
hot spot, left vacant when Red Theander was
transferred to Chatham last season.
Backstop chores will be shared by veteran
catcher Tom Rawlings, and George Parker, from
Hensall. Don O'Brien, who will be playing
manager this year, will again look after the
first base position. Doug O'Brien will be on
second, and 13111 Yungblut will guard the hot
corner.
The outfield will have Jerry Bell, Bruce
Moir, Arnie Meyer, Pete Masse and a number
of the juveniles •alternating.
Pitching remains the big dark secret on the
squad. Manager Don O'Brien is withholding
his choice until game time, and it is quite pos-
sible local fans will be in for a surprise in this
department. The club is still awaiting word
from an outstanding pitcher which they have a
string on. If he accept the offer, however, he
will not be available until June, when the school
season is over.
Season Tickets
As was done last year, the ball club will
again be selling season tickets, which will cover
all the regularly scheduled games of the season.
They can be purchased from any member of
the team, or at the office of the Citizens News.
As well as saving money on a season's ticket,
the fans vyill be giving the ball team a boost.

Schelhaas--Drost
Steffentien Drost, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Koob Drost, RR 4,
Goderich, and Remmelt Schelhaas,
RR 1, Zurich, were married in the
Christian Reformed Church, Clin-
ton, on Friday, May 15, 1959, at
7.30 p.m. The groom's parents are
Mr. and Mrs. Cornelus Schelhaas,
Hoogeveen, The Netherlands.
Rev. A. G. Van Eek, Exeter,
performed the ceremony.
The bride wore a ballerina
length white taffeta dress, with
long sleeves, and a high collar.
There were white embroidered
flowers on the dress, and she had
a short veil and crown. She car-
ried a bouquet of white carnations.
A reception was held in the
church parlours, which were decor-
ated in green and pink.
The young couple are on a two
month wedding trip to the Nether-
lands. On their return they will
reside in Zurich. The groom is em-
ployed by McKinley's chick hat-
chery.
Crop Report
(By D. H. Miles
Agricultural Representative
for Ruron County)
Intermittent showers are pre-
venting sowing of intertilled crops.
Grass is only making fair growth
although meadows are looking
good. Most of the cattle are out
on pasture although those with
plenty of hay are holding their
cattle in as long as possible.
