Dashwood Bank
)(tanager's Son
Killed on Bicycle
A six-year old Dashwood boy,
Charles Irwin, died last Wednes-
day afternoon after he was struck
by a car while riding a bicycle
home from school,
Police said the boy was going
home from school when he enter-
ed Highway 83 at the planing mill
intersection. He was struck by a
car driven by Gordon Tullock, RR
1, Dorchester.
The youth was the son of the
manager of the Dashwood bank,
Clair Irwin, and Mrs. Irwin. He is
survived by two brothers, Peter,
who works in a Hamilton bank,
and Paul, who attends South Hur-
on High School.
Dr. V. Gulens, Dashwood physic-
ian, whose office is less than a
block from the scene of the acci-
dent, was at the boy's side im-
mediately. Although a resuscitator
was used he died about 30 minut-
es after the crash.
Charles was riding a junior size
bicycle 1.0 his home, which is less
than 100 yards from the inter-
section. His mother heard the
crash. The victim hit the wind-
shield of the car and fell to the
pavement.
Coroner Dr. J. C. Goddard, Hen-
sall, was called to the scene. In
charge of the investigation are
OPP Constable Cecil Gibbons and
George Mitchell.
Zurich Bankers

ra eh Transfers
Two young men, both well
known in this district, have re-
ceived moves in the Bank of Mon-
treal.
Douglas "Red" Theander, who
spent some time in the bank here
in Zurich before moving to Chat-
ham, has been transferred to Han-
over. While in Zurich Red was well
known as a standout ball player,
as well as playing hockey for the
locals. In Hanover he will join
another young man who has been
in Zurich, in the person of Grant
Male, who went to Hanover from
Zurich.
Jerry Rannie, Hensall, has been
moved from the Bank of Montreal
branch in Clinton to Walkerton.,
Starting out in the Hensall bank,
Jerry was transferred to Clinton
about one year ago. He was also
well known here in Zurich, having
played baseball for the Lumber -
kings, and being a member of the
Zurich Lions Club.
It is quite possible either or both €
of these young men may be seen
in these parts this summer in a
ball uniform of the towns they are
now in, since both Hanover and 1
Walkerton are both good ball
towns. Walkerton has a team ent-
ered in the same grouping as Zu-
rich.
