Luther League
Holds Group
.Lesson Discussions
On Sunday evening April 19,
the Luther League had its regular
meeting. The meeting opened
with a hymn; Psalm 145 by Robert
Westlake; prayer by Elanor Prang,
Scripture lesson by Judy Moore;
and topic "Is She the best", the
second in a series of personality
problems, by Jack Yungblut,
Following the topic the League
was divided into two groups, and
were given five questions to dis-
cuss. The questions were as fol-
lows:
(1) What opportunities for fel-
lowship between boys and girls
do high school students have?
What are they seeking through
these contacts?
(2) How large a part does the
desire to be popular with those of
the other sex have in determining
the student's conduct? Are any
compromises made far the sake of
popularity?
(3) What widespread attitudes
and practices would be eliminated
in boy -girl relationships if they ac-
cepted Jesus' ideals?
(4) Make a Iist of the qualities
and practices which students feel
make for popularity with mem-
bers of the other sex. Which of
these would you justify, which
condemn? On what grounds?
(5) How can young people de-
velop the qualities of spirit and
life necessary to win through to
satisfactory relations with each
other? Where does God come in?
After a discussion period of 30
minutes, getting opinions from
both boys and girls, the Leaguers
returned to their seats. President
Louis Willert asked the questions
one at a time and gave each group
time to give their opinions. This
was a very interesting discussion
in which everyone gave his or her
view of the question.
The offering was received after
the discussion period. During the
business part of the meeting 16
members and one visitor respond-
ed to the roll call. The treasurer
reported a balance of $58.69.
The meeting closed with the
singing of a hymn and the Lord's
Prayer.
The next meeting will be held
on May 10, and the topic will be
To Go or Not To Go Steady."

Local Citizens Buy
School Debentures
The Zurich Separate School
Board reports that their $65,000
debenture issue is going very well.
Reservations for purchase are still
being accepted, but only about
$15,000 of various amounts are
still available.
An interesting feature of the
issue is that all debentures thus
far have been subscribed by local
citizens. The debentures bear in-
terest at 6 percent.
