Sherritt, Mrs. Robert Mrs, Brokenshire Hostess For Ladies Mrs. W. Bronkenshire opened the meeting of the Lutheran Ladies Aid, last Saturday night, with the singing of several well known hymns. The Easter versicles were read responsively, after which some interesting films were shown by Mrs. A. Hess. The vice-president, Mrs. Lewis Thiel, took the chair for the busi- ness session. The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting also several thank you notes from the sick and shut-ins which had been visited and treated by the visiting committees; this commit- tee reported making 30 calls. The treasurer's report was giv- en by Mrs. Ray Fisher, a satis- fying profit was realized from the CoOp banquet ,which the ladies had catered to. The parsonage committee repor- ted on the work that is being done in the parsonage. An invitation to be guests of the ladies at the Re- deemer Lutheran church in Lon- don on April 14, was accepted. The ladies of Group 3 will be in charge of preparing and serv- ing supper to the Sunday School Teachers' Convention, which will be held in Zurich on May 4, with about 150 present. Elgie; home economics and health, Mrs. A. R. Orr, Mrs. J. E. Mc - Ewan; historical research, Miss M. Ellis, Mrs. R. M. Peck, Mrs. William Henry, Mrs. A. W. Shir- ray, Mrs. Lorne Chapman; public relations representative, M r s. Maude Hedden; assistant, Mrs. George Hess. President Mrs. Carl Payne con- ducted the business. Mrs. Basil Edwards spoke on the South Hur- on Hospital Auxiliary meeting in May, when ,this Institute will pro- vide a number and serve lunch. The euchre party, planned for this month, has been left over until fall. A motion was passed to hold a bake sale, tea and art exhibit on May 16, in the Legion Hall, at 4 p.m. Committee. appointed were Mrs. E. R. Davis, Mrs. Sherritt, Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Beer and Mrs. Orr. A card of thanks was read from Mrs. Donald McKinnon. Mrs. R. M. Peck gave a report of the District Executive meeting held in Hensall on Tuesday, April 7. The District annual will be held at Grand Bend on May 21. Miss Greta Lammie was appointed to arrange for a musical number. Mrs. Payne, retiring president, expressed words of appreciation to the secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Peck, for her valued support and co-op- eration for the past two years, while she held the office of presi- dent. Reports of Standing Com- mittees were presented. Mrs. Ed- wards read the slate of officers and Mrs. Elgie conducted the elec- tion. Mrs. E. Past president Harvey C. Pfaff, postmaster here, was elected with- out opposition to the post of zone commander for a two-year term. He has been deputy for the past two years. The Exeter branch's pipe band was chosen to lead the parade of Legion members from 13 branches in Wingham Sunday. They mar- ched to the cenotaph where wreaths were laid by Wingham and district officials. About 250 attended the confer- ence which also elected Doug An- drews, Clinton, as deputy zone commander. program, consisting of piano solos, Miss Carol Brown; reading, Miss M. Ellis; tap dance selections. Miss Peggy Goddard and Miss Carol Brown. Mrs. Armstrong gave cur- tesy remarks to the retiring presi- dent, Mrs. Payne, for her untiring efforts in office for the past two years.
