An invitation was received to attend a Daffodil Tea in Exeter, on April 7, when Dr. John McDonald will be the guest speaker, on cancer. During the evening the members elected Mrs. Harold' Parker, DDP for the coming term. Jr. PNG Mrs. William Caldwell wa sappoin- ted to attend the Grand Lodge in Toronto in June. Arrangements were made for the official visit of the D.D.P Mrs. William Chambers, Exeter, on April 1. Following the meeting the CPT committee entertained members to a progressive euchre. RADER, Correspondent) Attend Hydro Convention Mr, and Mrs. Ervin Rader, Mr. and Mrs, Clifford Salmon and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schroeder, vil- lage trustees and their wives, at- tended the Ontario Hydro Con- vention at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, last week. The ladies were taken to see a new house heated entirely by electricity and had lunch at The Old Mill. They also were shown better ways of lighting their homes. The entire assembly of ladies and men were shown cooking by radium heat. The oven was turned on and cup cakes cooked in two minutes, and a cup of water heated for coffee in one minute. The most amaz- ing part is that things can be cooked right on paper and it doesn't burn. At Fire Insurance Convention William Haugh, accompanied by Reg. Black, Zurich, arid Harvey Taylor, Brucefield, attended the Fire Insurance convention at the King Edward Hotel, Toronto, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nickolson, cousins of Mr. and Mrs. William Hey, visited with them Thursday. Although they are in Stratford at present their home is at Aneroid, Saskatchewan. Visit County Home The ladies of Zion Lutheran Ladies' Aid visited the Huron County Home at Clinton last Wed- nesday. They presented a program of songs, instrumentals and read- ings. They also took along a treat of candy. A tour of the home was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Gamble and family, London, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Rader. O GOSHEN LINE The Women's Missionary So- ciety net at the home of Mrs. Richard Robinson on Wednesday, March 18. The Mission Band of Goshen Church met on Sunday morning with Mrs. Anson McKinley and Mrs. Kenneth Parke in charge. Mrs. Russel Erratt attended the Presbyterial held in Goderich on Friday. • 0 Tree Cutting Very Popular in Zurich Cutting trees on. Goshen Street in Zurich seemed to be the order of the day the past week. One of the most noticeable trees to be removed was the large one in front of Thiel's Superior Store. It was taken down on Friday. Another large tree in front of the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mittelholtz was cut down in the earlier part of the week, as was still another in front of the resi- dence of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Stade. All the work was carried out by employees of Huron County, on whose road all three trees were located. Reason for the removal was given as that the trees were rotten, and created a danger haz- ard as they were sitting. Alf. A. Armstrong Funeral service will be con- ducted this afternoon, March 25, fr- om Knox Presbyterian Church, Bayfield, for Alfred -Archibald Ar- mstrong. He passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, Mar- ch 23, at his home on the Bron- son Line, Stanley Township. The Rev. D. J. Lane, Clinton, will of- ficiate, and. interment will be in, Bayfield Cemetery. Westlake fu- neral home, Zurich have charge of arrangements. Mr. Armstrong was born on March 9, 1874, in Stanley Town- ship on the family homestead, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Armstrong. He lived there all his life, bringing his bride, Mary Ruby Whiddon to live there on December 19, 1912. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Bayfield, and of the Independent Order of Forresters. Surviving are two sons, John, and William, both of Stanley Township; and one daughter, Mary, Mrs. (Dr.) Lea, Charlotte- town, P.E,I and 13 grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. William Steckle spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Amos Ging- erich. Mr. and Mrs, Roy Gingerich and Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Steckle were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Schwartz- entruber and family. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gingerich and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Erb and family. Mr. and Mrs Bert Bachert and family, accompanied by the lat- ter's mother, Mrs. Nancy Schwar- tzentruber, spent Sunday with the former's parents at Manheim. Mr. Burrell is a member of the. Bethesda Mennonite church, SL Louis, Missouri, where Rev. Hub- ert Swartzentruber, formerly of Zurich, serves as pastor. The sermon, "Jesus, the Mult- titude and Zacchaeus", was based on Luke 19: 1-10. At the close of the message he gave testimony as to his conversion from a life of drug addiction and crime. "The adventures and excitement of crime," he stated, "are not to be compared with the challenge, the adventure, excitement and deep satisfaction of Christian experien- ced and Christian work. During his stay at the School, Mr. Burrell has been invited to, speak in many Ontario churches. After the message he challenged the congregation with a solo, "Give of Your Best to the Master.'
