An Important Message
To Ontario Farm People
A Farm Accident
Survey
will be conducted
throughout ONTARIO
from March 1, 1959 to
February 29, 1960
This survey will record all farm accidents and fires during
the year and seek to determine their causes. The objective
of this survey is to provide the basis of a Farm Safety
Program designed for your benefit.
The Farm Accident Survey in the County of Huron
is under the direction of your Agricultural
Representative D. H. Miles and
Associate Agr. Rep. A. S. Bolton,
assisted by
Lloyd Hendrick, Dashwood — Hay Township
Ted Dunn, RR 3, Bayfield --Stanley Township
An accident reporter will collect details of all accidents
for each community in your township. The success of
a form safety program will depend on the full co-
operation and assistance of, all Ontario farm people in
this survey.

Onto Veterinary
College Suggests
Horse Grooming
Although the horse as a work
animal has almost passed out of
the picture, there are still many
horses being kept for pets, riding,
showing, and for odd jobs around
the farm. February is a good
month to give a horse some of
the maintenance that it requires
from time to time, says the Ont-
ario Veterinary College. Frequ-
ently, after a winter of idleness
or light exercise horses' feet re-
quire careful inspection and pro-
per trimming. It is also a good
time of year to have the teeth
looked at and the rough edges
taken off.
If the horse has not already
been treated for "Sots" this is a
good time to do it. The bot lar-
vae, which have been present in
the horse's stomach during the
winter become more active as sp-
ring approaches and begin their
travels through the rest of the di-
gestive system. As they become
active and begin their migration
they frequently are a cause of
colic in the horse. Recently the
treatments for bots and for the
internal parasites of the horse ha-
ve been very much improved. Such
treatments should be administered
only on the recommendation of a
veterinarian. One treatment, when
properly administered is usually
sufficient to control all the com-
mon internal parasites of the
horse.

ST. OSEPH'S—DRYSDALE
(AL. FRED DUCHARME, Correspa,ndent) '
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Corriveau and
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jeffrey mot-
ored to London on Tuesday on a
business trip, and while there they
visited Mr, and Mrs. Morley Four-
nier,
Remi Denomme, who has been a
patient in South Huron Hospital
for some time has returned to
his home much improved, but it
will be some time before he is
completely recovered.
Andrea Cantin, Detroit, is sp-
ending a few days in St. Joseph
with his mother.
G. Knight, London, was unable
to reach his cottage at the lake
by car last Saturday, so he had
to complete the trip walking with
snow shoes. The freezing of water
systems is causing some alarm
during this very cold weather.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Laporte,
London, are visiting with relatives
in the Drysdale district.
The trouble with a chronic
borrower is that he always keeps
everything but his word.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sararas,
of the Bluewater south, were Sun-
day evening visitors with Mrs,
Josephine Ducharme and son, Isa-
dore.
Mrs. Noel Laporte, who was a
patient in South Huron Hospital
has returned to her home much
improved after undergoing treat-
ment.
Snow
Snow and more snow in the air,
coming from all directions, mixed
with sleet and high winds. Let us
watch and see what the month of
March has in store for us.
Those things that come to the
man who waits seldom turn out
to be the things he's waiting for.
