Zurich Lions Midgets, led by
Earl Wagner, trounced Hensall
Midgets 10-1 last Tuesday night in
Zurich, and won their group title.
They will now advance into the
finals of the WOAA, and will
meet the winners of Mildmay -Tara

championship. It will probably be
another week before the winner
of that series will be decided.
Earl Wegner, classy little left-
winger for the locals, pumped in
three goals for Zurich. Bob John-
ston and Gerard Overholt follow-
ed with two each, and single coun-
ters went to John Masse, Paul
Weido, and Wayne Willert. Bob
Jacques triggered the lone Hensall

After scoring two in the first

five in the second, and added three
more in the third.

On Monday, February 9, a meet-
ing was held in the Department
of Agriculture Board Rooms, Clin-
ton, to organize a County Farm
Safety Committee to assist with
the Province Farm Safety Survey
which will start on March 1 of
this year. This committee is com-
posed of one person from each
township in Huron County. These
people have taken on the res-
ponsibility of organizing and con-
ducting the survey within their
respective townships.
The newly -formed County Com-
mittee elected Harry Dougall, Ex-
eter as chairman and Arthur Bol-
ton, Associate Agricultural Repre-
sentative, as secretary -treasurer.
Members of the committee in-
clude: Elmer Robertson, Colborne
Township; Bill Elston, Morris;
Jack Knight, Grey; Harry Dougall,
Usborne; Roy Morenz, Stephen;
Ted Dunn, Stanley; Lloyd Hend-
rick, Hay; Mrs. William Andrew,
Ashfield; Merton Keys, Tucker -
smith; John Deeves, Goderich
Township; Earl McSpadden, Mc-
Killop; Frank Thompson, East
Wawanosh; Blake Alton, West
Wawanosh; Oscar Kieffer, Turn -
berry; Jim Renwick, Howick; Mrs.
Lloyd Pipe, Hullett.
In each of the townships, these
chairmen will be enlisting the aid
of their fellow farm people to
compile a record of the accid-
ents happening to all farm folk
throughout the area. A similar
plan will be put into operation
in .every township across the pro-
vince.
Meetings were planned through-
out the county to give the direct-
ors opportunity .;to advise report-
ers from each section about their
duties, and how the survey would
be carried out. Meeting dates are
as follows: Howick and Turnberry
townships, in Wroxeter on Feb-
ruary 17; Goderich, HulIett and
Stanley townships in Clinton on
February 19; McKillop and Tuck-
ersmith in Seaforth, February 20;
Hay, Usborne and Stephen, in Ex-
. eter, February 23; Grey and Mor-
ris, in Brussels, February 24; Ash-
field, West Wawanosh, in Dungan-
non, February 26; Colborne and
East Wawanosh in Auburn, Feb-
ruary 27.
The purpose of the survey is to
gather the facts and figures about
farm accidents. This research will
then be used as the basis for
organized farm safety education
programs to follow.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, .Ar-
thur Bolton attended the Farm
Safety Conference in Guelph on
the theme, "How Can Farm People
Live Safely?"

Co S. 1Mac\ aughton
of In Accord With
olice Actions
Charles MacNaughton, member
of the Legislature for Huron, in
parliament session last Friday,
accused provincial police of sett-
ing speed traps in areas where
they are sure they will catch a
good crop of speeders.
The member said there are ham-
lets on highways in this area
which have a 30 -mile -an -hour
speed limit which drivers are
through before they realize speed
should be reduced.
"The OPP concentrates on these
areas because they know they can
pick up plenty of speeders", Mr.
MacNaughton declared.
"These areas put drivers in a
position where they violate the
law without knowing it."
Mr. MacNaughton's complaint
was supported by other members
of the agricultural committee of
the Legislature.
