Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Black
made a business trip to Galt last
Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. William Yung-
blut, London, were weekend visit-
ors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ivan Yungblut.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Oke and
family were Friday visitors in
London with Mr. and Mrs, Arthur
McLean.
Edward Deichert, Sarnia, was
a weekend visitor at the home of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Deichert.
Simon Thiel, Kitchener, and An-
drew Thiel, Toronto, were in Zu-
rich on Monday attending the fun-
eral of their sister, Mrs, Peter
Deichert.
Mr. and Mrs. John Steckle,
Vineland Station, were weekend
visitors with relatives in the Zu-
rich district.
Miss Gloria Gingerich. Kitchen-
er, spent a few days last week at
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jacob Gingerich.
Mr. and Mrs .Charles Scotch -
mer, daughter Ruthann, and little
grandson, David Renner, were
Perry E. Pearson
Perry E. Pearson, London, pass-
ed away suddenly at his home
this past Sunday. He was well-
known to most Zurich residents,
having spent considerable time
here a few years ago.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Clara Kennedy, are: two
sons, Jack, Zurich; Paul, London;
and one daughter, Mary Ruth, at
home. There are also three broth-
ers and four sisters.
The remains rested at the Dono-
hue funeral home in London, and
High Mass is being held at St.
Michael's Church this morning,
Wednesday. Interment will be
made in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Mrs. Scotchmer's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Albrecht.
Mrs. Ted Steinback motored to
St. Catherines over the weekend
and was accompanied home by her
daughter, Norma, who had spent
a week at the home of her sister,
Mrs. James Hackett.
Practise Teaching
Kenneth Weido and Douglas
Squire, Goderich, are teaching this
week at Mrs. Earl Deichert's
school.
Attend Seminar
Charles Thiel, William McAdams
and Milton Oesch, representing
the Zurich and District Chamber
of Commerce, attended the Semin-
ar on Executive training, held in
the. Victorian Inn, Stratford, last
Thursday.

Leads Program at
Youth Fellowship
The EYF of Emmanuel Evang-
elical United Brethren Church met
on Tuesday, February 3, with Miss
Catharine Thiel in charge of the
program. Miss Norma Geiger acted
as pianist for the meeting. After
the singing of a hymn, Miss Helen
Grainger led in the responsive
scripture reading. Miss Phyllis
Schade read a poem, "If the Bible
could talk".
Miss Elizabeth Finlay presented
the topic, entitled, "Church in
the Wildwood." It described how
a church that had been closed was
re -opened because of the consecra-
tion of two young couples. They
got others to join therm in giving
their support of this yvorthy pro-
ject.
After a Bible Quiz, conducted by
the pastor, Rev. A. M. Amacher,
the meeting was closed with all
praying the Lord's Prayer.

Mrs. Delbert Geiger, president,
took charge of the business ses-
sion. Mrs. Peter Gingerich led in
prayer. Mrs. Harold Rader, the
secretary, read the minutes of the
last meeting and called the roll.
Miss Olive O'Brien and Mrs. Leon-
ard Erb gave their reports as
treasurer of the Ladies' Aid and
WSWS. Mrs. Newel Geiger urged
good support for the World Ser-
vice Day on Sunday, February 15.
She said our necessities are lux-
uries to some people in other
lands. There they are grateful
for one portion of rice a day. Mrs.
Milton McAdams reported that the
EYF had raised $16 for the Esp-
analo Hospital in New Mexico.
Mrs. K. M. Breakey stated that
during the month, 87 get well
cards were sent, and four baskets
of treats, as well as thirty sick
visits made. Mrs. Oscar Greb, Mrs.
Urban Pfaff, and Miss Ethel Gab-
el were apointed a nominating
committee to bring in a slate of of-
ficers for the next meeting.
The following comprised the
committee for the program, Mrs.
Melvin Brown, Miss Olive O'Brien,
Mrs. Chris Hoist, Mrs. Charles
Minshall, Mrs. Lloyd O'Brien, and
Mrs. Herb DesJardine.

Miss Tennie Bristow returned to
herr home in Egmondville on Friday
after being with her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam-
uel Hohner, since Christmas. Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Hohner and Mrs.
Samuel Hohner accompanied her
on her return.
Miss Sharon Reder, Goderich
Township, spent the weekend with
Miss Helen Grainger. They atten-
ded the Confirmation Service in
the Lutheran Church on Sunday
morning.
Miss Elaine Grainger is spend-
ing this week at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Grainger, and will do practice
teaching in SS No. 1, Stanley, un-
der the supervision of Mrs. Pow-
ell.
Joe Cunningham was a week-
end guest at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Grainger.
Mrs. William Armstrong and
baby returned to their home on
the Bronson Line, from Clinton
Hospital, on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Goven-
lock, Bob and Neil, Seaforth, were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Westlake.
Archie Armstrong, who has been
a patient in Clinton Hospital since
December, was able to return to

Meet at Home of
Solomon. Baechler
The February meeting of the
WMSA of the Blake Mennonite
Church, was held on Thursday,
February 5, at the home of Mrs.
Solomon Baechler. The meeting
was in charge of the president,
Mrs. Roy Gingerich,
Mrs. Harald Zehr led in a few
verses of song, and Mr. Baechler
had charge of the devotional per-
iod.
There were 18 present. One large
quilt, one comforter and one crib
quilt were made, and a number
of articles were finished by hand,
Girl Guide News

The Zurich Girl Guides held
their regular weekly meeting last
Thursday. They started with the
horseshoe formation, the Queen,
the Lord's Prayer, and then the
Guide's Promise. They then went
to their patrol corners and had
crafts.
They ended with taps.
The ,next meeting will be held
on Thursday evening at 8.00 p.m.
