West Huron Women's Institute Prepare
Strong Resolution to Abolish D S.T.
Recently the West Huron Br-
anch District Women's Institute
passed a resolution in regards to
Daylight Saving Time, and the
resolution is to be presented to the
local members of parliament and
to all farm organizations, request-
ing the abolition of DST.
This past Monday this resolu-
tion was presented to the Hay
Township council, who concurred
with the idea–presented by the
ladies.
The resolution reads as follows:
We feel it was a good thing,
when Standard Tirne was adopted
on a World Wide basis, and that,
with today's communication and
transportation b e co ming more
complicated, it is most unwise to
change the recording of time in
any way. We feel this should be
settled, first Provincially, and then

Whereas — Our organization
works for the best interests of our
homes and our country, and Day-
light Saving Time is causing i11 -
feeling between Rural and Urban
people, and is increasing the ten-
sion of modern living in our homes,
and
Whereas—It is upsetting to the
health and habits of children and
'teenagers in making adjustments
to the new time, is not conducive
to early retiring, or attention to
studies because of the prolonged
daylight, and is a drawback on
Fall mornings, especially for Rural
school children; and
Whereas—It in no way increas-
es productive power but has in-
voked a hardship on the farmer,
since a considerable amount of his
work is governed by sun -time; one
hardship being that hired help like
to work by the clock; and
Whereas—It has caused confu-
sion in Transportation circles
where new schedules have to be
drawn, to fit in with the new
times of starting, also ending dat-
es have varied in different Count-
ies, and added to the confusion.
Therefore, We of the West Hur-
on District, suggest that each Br-
anch Institute of our Province ap-
peal to the local member of our
Provincial Parliament, and also to
Premier Frost, to bring about Leg-
islation, for the greater limitation
and final abolition of this practice.
That our Districts see that the
matter is discussed at each County
Institute Rally, and plan there a
method of attacking the problem
in our Counties, asking Farm Or-
ganizations continue protesting till
Daylight Saving Time be discon-
tinued.
