Arrangements have been completed between the Chamber of Commerce and the arena board to allow this pub- lic service. HAY TOWNSHIP REEVE V. L. Becker was again re- turned to the office of reeve of Hay Township, and along with him he took his entire council of 1958. Although Deputy Reeve Alex Mous- seau was nominated for reeve, he declined to qualify for the position, meaning that the entire group was returned by acclamation. (Citizens News Photo) Santa Claus Is Corning To Gingerich's Santa Claus is coming to town! Yes, good old St. Nick will be visiting Gingerich's store in Zurich this Saturday afternoon from 2-4. All the children in this dist- rict are invited to come out and see Santa, and tell him what they would like for Christmas. Treats will be giv- en to all the kiddies who drop in and see him, and there will also be a lucky draw for a real nice toy. Ice -making is now in pro- gress, and, according to Wil- liam Forrester, the newly ap- pointed arena manager, there should be good skating by the weekend, providing the weath- er stays suitable. Due to a request from the Zurich and District Chamber of Commerce the Arena Board has agreed to allow Su daY af- ternoon skating he hours of 2-4. The chamber request felt that children are much better off having super- vised skating on, Sunday after- noon than they are roaming around the streets. First Gift Guide Carries Slogan. "Shop At Rome" This issue of the Zurich Citi- zens News is in the form of a Christmas shopping guide, and is meant to inform the public where various gifts and necessities can be purchased in Zurich. Read the advertisements over carefully, then decide where you want to buy your various needs. Many of the Zurich stores are having lucky draws. These three men were returned to the office of Village trustees at the nomination meeting held in the Town Hall, Zurich, last Friday night... The bride is the daughter of Mr. Mrs P. Workman. (By our Hensall Correspondent) Public funeral services for the late Mrs. Percy Workman, Varna, were held from the Bonthron fun- eral chapel in Hensall on Monday, - December 1, with Rev. T. J. Pitt officiating. Mrs. Workman, the former Th- elma Mae Dowson, who was in her 55th year, suffered a stroke last Thursday while visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Bender, Crediton. She was removed to South Huron Hospital, Exeter, where she passed away on Satur- day. Mr. Workman passed away in 1955. Surviving are one son, Leroy, at home; one daughter, Phyllis, Mrs. Bender; her father, William Dowson, Varna; one sister, Mrs. Wilfred Chuter, Varna; two bro- thers, Orrin Dowson, Varna, and Roy Dowson, Hamilton. Burial rites for Mrs. Workman took place in Bayfield cemetery. Mitchell Shearing, Clinton, and the groom is the son of H. P. Wild, London, and the late, Mrs. Wild. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. A. Mc- Kim. "The Lord's Prayer" was sung before the ceremony and "Be- cause" during the' signing of the register by Lorne Amacher, Zu- rich. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in 'a gown of French brocade with rounded neckline encrusted with seed pearls, long pointed sleeves and a chapel train. A sequin and pearl headdress held her silk illusion veil and she carried a crescent bouquet of gardenias, stephanotis and ivy. Mrs. Tom Mabee, Tillsonburg, was matron of honor, wearing red New York taffeta in Princess lin- es with Empire effect at the back, three-quarter length sleeves and rounded neckline. , Miss Beverly Lewis, St. Thomas, and Mrs. Doug- las Bundy, Lac St. Denis, Quebec, were bridesmaids wearing gowns of similar style. All three atten- dants wore red bandeaux in their hair and carried crescent bouquets of white carnations and ivy. Ronald Mills, Aylmer, was groomsman and Donald Ingram, Aylmer, and Edward Deichert, Zu- rich, were ushers. The church parlors were decor- ated with candelabra and baskets of white 'mums for a reception f o 11 o w i n g the ceremony. The bride's mother received, wearing a sunfire blue French silk sheath with side drape and a corsage of white gardenias. The groom's step- mother assisted, wearing a two piece plum colored ensemble with blue accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. For a wedding trip to Rochest- er and points south, the bride chose a royal jacket,patent ensemble,black a ray f accessories and a white rose cor- sage. On their return, Mr. and Mrs. Wild will reside in Zurich, where the groom is employed in the Bank of Montreal. The bride has been employed in Clinton Pub- lic Hospital and formerly at the St. Thomas -Elgin Hospital. UP ov Fr V a os Kin Ladies Night The Hensall Kinsmen Club en- tertained their wives at the Com- mercial Hotel on November 27, at a ladies night.
