He spoke on agriculture in Kent
county, one of the most southern
communities. This county is cut
in half by the Thames river. A
variety of crops are grown which
include, soya beans, hybrid seed
corn, burley, tobacco and Christ-
mas trees. Marketing gardening
is carried on extensively in the
Erie marsh, where the county
touches Lake Erie. There are sev-
eral large fisheries. Natural gas
is found in abundance near the
lake, while oil also is found in the
county. The growing season is
about two weeks longer than in
Huron. After his talk Mr. Mc-
Allister showed several slides of
farming activities in Kent.
Anyone who purchased jellied
salads and pies after the ball ban-
quet may leave the bowls and Tie
plates at Mrs. Roses' garage.
