in Hensel' United Church last
Tuesday evening for Brownies
going into Guides. Mrs, Earle
Rowe (Brown Owl), welcomed
the divisional commissioner, Miss

newly appointed Guide Captain,

Stanley Resident
Recommended For
County Position
A Stanley township resident,
Billie G. Hanley, RR 5, Clinton
has been recommended by the war-
den's committee for appointment
as deputy clerk -treasurer of Hur-
on County, with duties to com-
mence on January 1, 1959. This
recommendation will come before
the Huron County council when
they are in session during Novem-
ber.
The recommendation followed
the interviewing of several pros-
pective applicants foe the post.
There were 22 applications in
froth all the various parts of the
county.
Mr. Hanley is married and has
three children. He was educated
at Clinton Collegiate Institute and
at present is a bookkeeper at the
Cities Service Oil Depot at Clin-
ton. He is well remembered by

Junior Choir To
Canvass Village
For Coat Hangers
On Saturday, November 1, the
members of the Junior Choir of
St. Peter's Lutheran Church will
be canvassing the village for wire
coat hangers. The purpose of the
collection is to raise money which
will be used to purchase gowns
for the Junior Choir.
Arrangements have beenmade
to sell these hangers to a dry-
cleaner in Exeter, and so every
available hanger will help the
young singers.

Hear Report of
Toronto Meeting
The October meeting of the Un-
ited Lutheran Church Women of
St. Peter's Lutheran Church was
held last Tuesday evening at the
home of Mrs. Edward Datars.
Miss Ethel Hess and Mrs. Jut-
tner were in charge of the devot-
ions. A full report of the 40tb
Triennial convention of the ULCW
of the United Lutheran Church in
America which was held in the
Royal York Hotel in Toronto, was
given by Mrs. Deters. The con-
vention theme was, "Proclaiming
His Love," and it challenges all
Christians to be Christians.
The members of the society are
planning to hold their annual
Thank -Offering meeting in Nov.

After the business session a de-
licious lunch was served by the
hostess.
