Na Rabies Reported In Huron Yet;
MOH Explains Symptoms 'of Disease
(The following report is presented by the officials of the
Huron County Health Unit, R. M. Aldis, M.D., D.P.H., medical
officer of health. Dr Aldis emphasized that although a state
of emergency is not expected, it is hoped that co-operation will
be fostered so as to deal better with impending events).

Rabies or hydrgphiobia is a virus
infection which attacksthe ner-
vous system. Itis spread to hiu -

developed from the contact of the

none df the classical symptom, the
laboratory has established a diag-
nosis of rabies.
The Dog Tax and Live Stock
Protection Act provides for by-
laws to be passed by local anuni-
ciipaJliities for the licensing of dogs
sand the aoretnol df any running
at large. Ralbies. vaccination is ad-
visable far dogs, especially if they
are allowed to run on a farm or
used for hunting. The animal vac-
cine for rabies is safe and may
be secured at .nominal cost from
a practicing veterinarian.

Police Seeking Vehicle Which ''I`roke

turkey banquet in the Com-
munity Centre, which wild
honour the Zurich Lumber -
kings, Huron Perth and OBA

A member of films will be
shown., and the master of cere-
menies for the night will be

will also provide. ;the enter-
tainment. Various trophies
will be presented to the club
during the evening program.
Heai.th Nurse Hurt

to the person who broke a hydra
pole in Zurich early Sunday morn-
ing. The pale was in front of
Schoenen Baechler's, an Main St-
reet.
Aocarding to public utilities
manager Millfred Schilbe, the pole
was broke off sometime in thie
early hours of ,the morning. The
damage caused several residences
to be put out of hydro, and Mr.
Scheibe was called out through
the night to repair the damage.
From .tire marks •whic'h could
be seen, it seemed that the car
which hit the pole came down
the street west of the scene of
the eaooident and went around die
corner too fast, running ;into the
pole. No one has reported seeing
the accident happen.
Police are confident they whiff
be,able to find thewanted oar
in the very near future, and if
they do charges- could be pending.
In Car Accident .
Near Holm.esville.
Miss. Jean- er;. Mean
Corunty health nurse, was injured
in an automobile accident .on High-
way No. 8 at Holmesvillle Monday
afternoon, when her car and a
truck driven by Richard Erb, FtR
2, Zurich, were involved in a codl-
slton.
Miss Falconer's mouth was badly
cut, and it is possible that there
are other injuries, It is estimated
that damage to both vehicles total-
ed about $•1,600.
Constable Robert Sinus:, OPP,
Godetich detachment, investigated
the accident.

SUCCESSFUL SALE. The members of the Catholic Women's League of St, Boni-
face parish in Zurich held a very successful baking sale in the Town Hall this past
Saturday. A large number of cakes and pastry were sold by the ladies. Displaying some
