Annual Meetings
Of Federations
Coming Up Soon
• (By I. Carl Hemingway)
Several of the townships Fed-
erations Of Agriculture are plann-
ing dates for t'he'ir annual meet-
ings. I hope they will keeps in
mind the dates, for the OFA An-
nu:al whaedh is being held November
10, 111 and 12 an: Toronto. It is a
busy time -and: with onliy ane man
on so- many farms it is difficult
to attend the three day Provin-
cial Annual. However it is an
'important meeting and each town-
ship should send at least one rep-
resentative, The County Annual
is being pi:anned for November
26 and will fallow the same pro-
gram as- in recent years.
The Meeting for the organiza-
tion of TV Farm .Forums held an
Auburn last Thurs'day evening
showed, considerable interest and
poroslpects for a nurcnber of groups
is good; You are urged to take
part in this project even though
it may, ,,not be too convenient at
times. This is, a special test pro-
jeot for all Cawood and whether
thlis proves to be what is needed
or :not it is important that there
is enought participation to arrive
at a definite conclusion.
Mrs. Adiith ,Starr, secretary for
Onrtarto -Farm Forum, attended
and gave out organizational mat-
erial. She pointed out that TV
groups should be! smaller than
radio groups. since everyone needs
to view ;the 'program. This will
shorten the distances to be trav-
eled and witll also relieve the pro-
blem of small ,children. Groups
representing 'four to six families
should be quite satisfactory.
The first discussion topic "What
Piniice Freedom?" needs serious
consideration. Most of you will
'remember the "Hog Vote". Loss
'of freedom was one of the big
issues. Do Co-operatives reduce
freedom? Just where ,do we bal-
ance "Freedom" ;against "Econ-
omic Security?" This decision will
halve a very important bearing
on the policy of every farm or-
ganization. The rent of the topics:
present just es great a challenge
to rural people. If you want a.
share in that decision invite. your
neighbours in for Farm Forum
November 3, for radio and Nov-
ember 4 for TV.
Registration' forms and :study
material available through Feder-
ation of Agriculture Office, Bax
310, Clinton.
