At their meeting hast Wednes-
day 'night, the members of the
Hay Township Conned were told
of a complaint from Ray Fisher
that the .ground on his property
was not properly levelled after
the regent dredging operations.
The 'engineer hal already okayed
:the wank, so the council could not
do miIudh about at now. However,
thety decided in future they would
make the engineer be more part-
icular before he approved a job
as being satisfactory.
In other business council heard
the report from C. P. Corbett,
regarding the land which the Town
Hall is. .situated on. According to
the figures the engineer had there
would be only seven and a half
feet to the south of the Hall, on
Which they could erect a township
Office. There as a chance however,
according ;to. the report of the
engineer, that there may be a mis-
take In measnurenents and • the
building south olf the hail may
be partly an the township land.
Due to uncertainty of the rneesiu re -
anent , the council decided it
would be advisable to have the
engineer •survey the grounds' and
Ibrb g in an accurate report on
his findings.
The appeal] on the Forrest Drain
will 'he held in rthe Town Hatt' on
Flridlaly, October 3, at 8 p.m. The
Stanley Big Drain appeal will be
heard on October 9, at 8 p.m.

Last Thursday night the . Gihil
Guides held their regular weekly
meeting In the Town Halal, oral
Flriday night. They started out
With the horse -shote formation, the
Queen, a prayer, and then the
Guide's Promise,
The Guides then went to their
patrol corners and studied knots,
flags, etc.
At the end df the meeting they
had taps, and the meeting was
dismissed. The Captain, Patrol
Leaders, Seconds and secretary
stayed forCourt of Honour to dis-
cuss 'Suture meetings which wiit
be head, The next meeting will be
on Thursday night at 8 o'clock.

The Misses Pauline Steelde and
Alma Martin of Kitchener -Water-
loo Hospital, Kitchener, spent the
weekend with their parents.
Miss Rebecca S.techa1e has re-
turned Marne after spending a
week with her sister, Mrs. Aden
Martin at Gowanstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Aanos Gingerich,
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Baeohde;r, and son Harry, • spent
Sunday afternoon at S't..•Toseph's
Hospital, London, visiting the
t'atter's granddiawgh'ber, Kar en
Scott, who had the misfortune of
the two wheels of a wagon pas-
sing over her body. She is get-
ting along nicely.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bachert, Mr.
Edmund Schwartzentruber and
Mr. and Mrs. Moses Eiib of Zurich
motored to Louisville, New York,
to attend the funeral of the lat-
ter's brother and the farmer's
uncle, Mr. Dan Zehr.

pital in Toronto much improved!.
