Mr. George Jeffrey, of the Drys-
dale district, was taken to Clinton
Hospital lash Tuesday after suffer-
ing a heart attack. When last
heard from he was reported to
be much improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilds and
family were Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs, Ed ,Corsiveau.
Mins Letitia Daacharme left on
Sunday for London, where she
will be employed at Brescia Hall.
Mr, and -Mrs. M. Forsythe, De-
troit, spent the weekend at their
cottage in Bayview resort.
Weekend visitors. at the home
of Mrs. Sarah Geoffrey on the
Blue Water south were: Mr and
Mrs. Robert Mernorviidge, Mrs.
Vincent ,Geoffrey and Stephen, all
of Detroit, and Miss Jasepha Vogt,
Chicago.
Mr, and Mrs. 'Clayton Bossen-
berry, Detroit, were weekerod vis-
itors at their cottage at Ducharnre
Beach.
Bean Harvest
Bean harvesting and threshing
has been the rush of the day, as
farmers are 'busy putting away
their beans. Regardless of the
showers the ;past week much has
been accomplished towards saving
the orop which br4,ngs favorable
returns to the farmer,
• Attend Fair
Several .people from (this district
have attended the Western Fair in
London during the past week. The
weather was not favorable for the
farmers to do much work, so
many of them enjoyed a day out at
the city.
Miscellaneous Shower
On Saturday evening a very
enjoyable and impressive shower
was held at the parish hall, in hon -
cur of Miss Josepha Vogt, Chicago,
whose wedding to Mr. Stephen
Jeffrey will take place in Chicago,
on October 18.
Mrs. Robert Mernorvidge acted
as sponsor of the evening. About
40 women were present, and as
they entered the hall they were
presented with a flower by Mrs.
Peter Jeffrey.
The hall was decorate. with
pink and white streamers for the
occasion. Bing was played with
valuable prizes being given to the
winners.
A delicious buffet lunch was
served.
Valuable gifts were presented
to the bride to be, who thanked
all the ladies .in a veru fitting
manner. The young couple will
reside in Detroit after a honey-
moon to parts of Ontario. This
community extends their best
wishes to them. .
• Receives Appointment
Jules Cantin, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Cantin, St. Joseph,
has worked himself up to quite an
enviable position. Starting in the
restaurant business at the age of
16, Jules is now the manager of
the El Rancho restaurant and
cocktail bar in Flint, Michigan.
Just recently he, has been appoint-
ed manager of the stewards and
caterers association of Feint.
