Mrs. Tom Meyers is spending
a few days with her daughter and
son -In-law, Mr. and Mrs. "Roy
Knoll, in Pt. Colborne.
Mr. and Mrs. George Blake,
Seaiforth; Mrs. and Mrs. Harry
Regley, Dublin, were Suniday visit-
ors with Mr. and Mrs. Chris Hoist,
Miss Ilgia Vitols, Hamilton, was
a weekend visitor with Miss Mary
Louise Fritz.' On Tuesday the
girls enrolled at Toronto Teacyhers'
College,
Lorne A¢naeher is spending a
few days holidays at the home
of his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Am -
lecher, before he returner to his
studies at Western University.
Mr. Ed Hartman, Waterloo, Mr.
and Mrs. P. Hartman and boys,
Bronson Line, were Thursday eve-
ning visitors with Mrs. Theresa
Hartman and family.
Mrs. Chris Erib was taken to
Queensway Nursli!n:g Horne in Hen-
sall last week by Weetlake amb-
ulance, and will remain there for
an indefinite time.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Oke and
family, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Webb and family are spending
a few weeks holidays at the cot-
tage •of Ivan Kallbifiehsch at Port
Blake.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hagans, Mr.

Kate and Miss Laura Pattison, all

A. The "informal" is a fold -
over card, and may be used for
and short nate — for sending and
replying to invitations, for en-
closing with a gift, and so on.
This type of card is ,not proper,
however, as a letter of condloienee.
Q. Should the used silverware
be gathered up before removing
the plates from the dinner table?
A. No; the silver should be left
on the plates, and all removed
from the table together.

Q. How can I remove old wall-
paper?
A. There are several methods
of removing wallpaper, but one
good way 'is to add alum to warm
water as long as the water well
dissolve it, then apply this solu-
tion with a white wash brush.
After it has dried the paper will
come off easily.
Q. What is a good tonic for the
hair, and one that will arrest
grayness?
A. It is claimed that pure cas-
tar toil rubbed into the scalp is an
excellent tonic, and will also ar-
rest grayness.
Q. What can I use as a polish
for linoleum?
A. Linseed oil rubbed into clean
linoleum makes an excellent pol-
ish. The floor will not be slippery.
Q. How can I make a filled
grapefruit?
A. By cutting the fruit evenly
and removing all the pulp and
juice, then filling the shells with
pieces of grapefruit, diced straw-
berries, and fresh pineapple.
Q. How can I remove burnt
spots from granite?
A. Cover the stain with a tea-
spoonful of soda and a little water
and heat to the boiling point.
Wash at once, but never scrape
it with a knife.
Q. What can I de with a wire
clothesline that has "rusted?
A. Paint it with aluminum paint
and it will last for a long time.
Q. How can I remove small
'pieces of soap that have gotten
down the drain pipe?
A. Pour boiling water down the
pipe to melt it. But soap will not
clean the pipes, and should be pre-
vented from clogging them.
Q. How can I remove oil stains
from a rug?
A. Dampen a cloth with clean-
ing fluid and rub around the edge
of the stain, working towards the
middle. Change to a clean part of
the rag as soon as one part is soil-
ed.
Q. How can I soften an old ball
of putty that has hardened?
A. Place it in balling water and
allow it to stand until the water
cools.
Q. How can I clean porcelain?
A. Probably the blest household
cleansing agent far porcelain is
kerosene,
