KEY GAME IN SERIES — TO-NITE
The well-balanced Mitchell Lincolns, who are still seeking
their first win (on the Lumberkings home grounds) will invade
'the local diamond to-nite in the fifth game of the current best
four out of seven series to decide the Huron -Perth Intermediate
"C" champions. The 'Kings are currently leading the series 2-1
'with one game tied.
Star hurlers Bill Gatenby and Bob White, of Mitchell and
Zurich respectively, are the probable starting pitchers. A large
turnout is expected for what could easily be the final home
game of the Mitchell series. The seventh game, if necessary,
will be back here on Monday night.
'KINGS EARLY LEAD SLIGHTLY CUT
After copping the first two contests in the present Mitchell
series the Lumberkings blew three run leads in the next two.
Lincoln right -fielder Murray Colquhoun, a regular season flop
at the plate, rose to the occasion and drove in the tying run
in the 7-7 tie at Zurich with two out in the final inning and
then in Monday nite's game, with the 'Kings leading 4-1 in the
:seventh, plated the three tying runs when his bases loaded
single got by the local fielder. To add insult to injury Colqu-
houn promptly stole home with the winning run after a squeeze
attempt had failed. Incidentally this was the first time in any
inning of any game in the present series that the Lincolns
were able to outscore the locals.
Don't miss this one To-nite!

infield Hard Hit Through Loss of Key Players
The left side of the 'Kings infield, which had been intact
for a couple of seasans, will certainly be in a turmoil this
'coming week. Besides the big gap left at the shortstop's posi-
tion when fiery "Red" Theander was moved to Chatham, the
'hot -corner" lost Its guardian when "Dan Cupid's" arrow struck
mil] Yungblut, who, by the way, has led the club in r.b.i.'s
all season. However "Big Bill" expects to be back in the line-
up for next Saturday's game in Mitchell. Manager Rawlings
informs us that "Red" Theander is also expected back for
Saturday's contest and, if possible, he may be on hand to-nite.
Hats Off To - - -
Bob White who was the winning pitcher in the first two
•contests due to his brilliat relief pitching.
Arnie Meyer whose three key hits were mainly responsible
Tor the 'Kings being able to hang on to their 7-7 tie on Thursday
'night.
Ron Helier for his brilliant pitching performance on Monday
night. Ron had limited the Mitchell crew to two scattered hits
'before the disastrous seventh when a walk, a hit batsman, and
two singles accounted for the four runs.
Yanks Depend on New Blood
The New York Yankees who arecurrently making a runaway
of the 1958 American League pennant race and who have almost
'completely dominated this same American League for the past
decade have not depended on a stand -pat club to capture all
"their laurels. Only six members of the 1953 Yankees are still
on this year's roster: Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford,
Gil McDougald, Hank Bauer and Andy Carey. However, these
six players would make a "fair" nucleous on any ball club.
Extra Paige
The ageless Satchel Paige was called on for a ninth inning
relief stint against Washington. Bill Veeck, the Brown's boss,
told the pitcher that the team had to catch a train in less than
an hour. Paige struck out the side on only ten pitches.
"Sorry about that extra pitch," he apologized to Veek as
they boarded the train, "but the umpire missed one."

Dashwood Tigers
To Play "D" Bali.
Word has just been received
from Remi Wein that the
Dashwood Tigers are again
back in the baseball wars.
Originally Dashwood was ent-
ered in the OBA as an Inter-
mediate "C" team, but due to
the fact that their population
warrants a lower category, the
OBA has agreed to let them
drop back into "D" baseball.
They had previously been eli-
minated in the "C" category
by Mitchell.
When, where, and who the
Tigers will face in their next
round of playoffs has not been
announced, but it is expected
the series will start within the
next week.
