Miss Mary Anne Hayter and
jimmy Hayter, who returned
home, spent last week vacationing
with their uncle and aunt, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Bruce, Windsor.
Mrs. William Schuwnacker, Mr.
and Mrs. Leo Luedthe and Eliza-
beth, Pigeon, Michigan, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam Haugh and other relatives.
Other visitors on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Haugh were Mr. and
Mrs. Courtney Burmeister and EA -
len, Mr. and Mrs. Urban Pfi1e,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader and
family.
Baby Baptized
Diane Shirley, infant daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader,
was baptized Sunday morning in
Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. K.
L. Zorn. Miss Shirley Haugh and
Miss Ellen Gilbert were sponsors.
Rader Family Picnic
The tenth, annual Rader picnic
was held Sunday evening at Riv-
erview Park, lErceter. After a
bounteous supper the president
conducted races in the absence of
the sports committee. Winners
were: girls, six to ten, Margaret
Merrier; boys, Ray Taylor; boys
11-14, Richard Rader. Ladies' race,
Mrs. Wendell Gamble; men, Wen-
dell Gamble. Boys wheelebarrow
race, David Rader and Richard
Rader. Roll ball, five and under,
Douglas Rader. Kick balloons, ad-
ults, Lloyd Rader. Several relays
were enjoyed.
The president, Mrs. Ervin Rader
welcomed all and conducted a brief
business meeting. A moment's sil-
ence was observed for those who
died .during the year. The secret-
ary, Mrs Milfred Meaner, read
fred Merner; sports committee,
Raymnond Wein and Martin Laub;
table convenor, Mrs. Ivan Taylor.
Several special prizes were award-
ed: youngest baby, Diane Shirley
Rader (three weeks) ; first to ar-
rive to .picnic, Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Rader; what's in box, Elgin Rad-
er; mystery parcel, Richard Rad-
er.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Restemnay-
er and girls, London, spent the
weekend with Mr. Otto Reste-
mayer.
Miss Anne Taylor, London,
spent the weekend with her mo-
ther, Mrs. Letta Taylor.
Miss Erma Wein, Clinton, and
Robert Wein, Sudbury, spent the
weekend with Mrs. Herb Wein.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan
and Lynda visited in Middletown,
Now York, with Dr. and Mrs.
Lorne Tfieman, and also visited
New York, with Dr. and Mrs.
for her vacation, returning home
this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stormer,
St. Thomas, vacationed with Mr.
and Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan.
Mr. and Mrs. Morton Charles
and son, Toronto„ spent East week
with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoff-
man and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs Joe Martene and
amily, Chesley, spent the week-
end with Mrs. Elizabeth Martene.
Miss. Norma Wiegand returned
home with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Ward and fam-
ily,
anilly, Windsor, spent Gast week with
Mrs. Lucinda Mcisaac. Miss Lynn
Griffith also returned home after

Hensall Village Council News

Heiman Council met in session
Monday night, when assessor D.
E. McKinnon presented his Asses-
sment Roll for 1958 with a total
taxalble iassessaraent of $842,517 and
exemptions ,of $96,200, or a total
assessment of $938,717, and pop-
ulation of 783. Considerable din
auss+ion took place as regards sev-
eral of the assessments and it was
decided to wait until: December
when they could be reviewed a-
gain before closing the
Roll.
A motion was passed that the
council ask the Ausable River
Conservation Authority for advice
as regards the planting of ,trees
at the dump grounds.
A motion was. +passed to can
tenders for the construction of ap-
proximately 500 lineal feet of four

foot wide cement sidewalk on
Richmind. Street south. Tenders to -
be dine the hands of the clerk on
or before August 30 and the job
completed by October 4.
+Considerable 'discussion took
place as regards setting the tax
rate as several rates had to be -
raised, namely; County, High
School and Public School. The
