M. Amacher. 31-p Hay Twpo Council Sees Drain Report, Surveys For Ditch .A. special meeting of the Hay Township Council was held last Friday night to hear /the reading of the Duoharme Municipal Drain. Five interested parties were pres- ent at the reading, and after some discussion the details were refer- red back to the engineer for some minor changes. The council has Instructed C. P. Corbett, engineer, to survey the sideraad between ,lots four and five an the lai Broad west, with the ;intentions of making a muni- cipal drain out of the ditch. The same thing is to be done with the sideroad at Drysdale. A supplementary road by-law was passed for 1958, requesting e subsidy on extra expenditures sof $14,000. This amount repres- ents the cost of a new culvert which was recently built, and the purchase of a new township truck and snow -,plow. The next regular meeting if the township council will be held on Tuesday, September the sec- ond. Overholt eu ion Seventy registered for the Ov- erholt family reunion, held Sun- day in Queen's Park, Stratford. Chosen as the committee for the 1959 reunion were Harold Over- holt, 111 Milton St., Stratford, Bob Valtland, Goderich; Norman Over- holt, Zurich; Edward Taylor, Lon- don. It was decided that next year's reunion would be held on the second Sunday in August in Queen's Park. Stanley Council Sets !dill. Rate; Buys New Truck .Stanley Township .Council, at their regular metrting last Tuesday night in the town hall, Varna, gave the third and final reading to by-law No. 9, regarding the Hess -Green sub -division at the lakefront. The by-law was passed. The councti set the 1958 tax rates as follows; county -13.3 mills., township -9 mil11s, general school rate -2.7 mills, high school rate - 6.4 milds, and the school area rate -8 mills. These rates apply to farm and residential, the rates for commercial; :and industrial will be slightly' higher. Harvey Coleman, the reeve of Stanley township, was appointed as inspector of the Stanley Big Drain, The tender of Rouse Auto Elec- tric 'for a new one ton truck was accepted. Council adjourned 'to meet again on Tuesday, Septem- ber the second.
