The Midler organization, under the direction :of Ray McKinley, was :the first "name orchestra to appear in Grand Bend do sever- al years and drew a good crowd. Oau Wednesdary, August 6, the famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is to be here in the Bend, and should also draw a large crowd. Boy Saved On Sunday afternoon a smvall lbw was found completely exhaus- ted. os - ted. The boy quickly recovered af- ter the lifeguards !applied arti- ficial respiration. • The life!guarrds certainly need a vote of thanks for their out- standing work this summer. Big Weekend The past weekend was probably the biggest .one that Grand Bend has ever seen. Every possible !accom modati:on, even with the in- crease of !better accom inodation, was taken and many disappointed and mired ;people had to !continue driving. There was a record influx of boats — from small outboard mot- or crafts, to cruisers. Also more said boats were around than has ever been noticed ,before. Good Behaviour According to •Corrporal Neil Ohaa•nberliadn, head of the O+PP De- tachment at Grand Bend, there, was !excellent conduct throughout the resort this weekend and a minimum of minor prosecutions, probably :the lowest an years. Mrs. Thomas Snowden spent the weekend with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Keys and family. Breaks Hip We are sorry to report that Mrs. Jaynes Dewar, a former Stan- ley Township resident, now living near Seaforth with her nephew, Mr. Orval Greer, had the misfort- une to fail and break her hip. She is at !present in Seaforrth Hospital. ---o HENSALL Mrs. Archie Noakes, who cele- brated a birthday on Monday of this week, in a pleasant surprise on Monday evening received con- gratulatory messages from her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leaton Sierran and little grand !daughter Kristena, Gamboa, Panama Canal. Mrs. Noakes said the reception was exceptionally clear. Eric Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell, left Thursday of last week for a three w'eek's vacation at Luke Louisa in Que- bec. He was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Archibald, Ekeiter. They motored through Ottawa and will return, by Montreal and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Stan and Jimmy, Red Dees, Alberta, are vacationing with Mr and Mrs. Leonard Noakes and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Avery, Saarni!a, spent the weekend holiday with Mr. and Mrs. J. Flynn and Joyce. Mr. and. Mrs. Pat Flannery and familly, Komoka, visited aver the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Alf- red Smith.
