GRAND BEND
(ELAINE GRAINGER
Correspondent)
Dorsey Band Here Wednesday
If bast We,dn;esday's Glenn Milder
dance was .any indication, the
trend is to big name ;bands again.
The Midler organization, under
the direction :of Ray McKinley,
was :the first "name orchestra
to appear in Grand Bend do sever-
al years and drew a good crowd.
Oau Wednesdary, August 6, the
famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra
is to be here in the Bend, and
should also draw a large crowd.
Boy Saved
On Sunday afternoon a smvall
lbw was found completely exhaus-
ted.
os -
ted. The boy quickly recovered af-
ter the lifeguards !applied arti-
ficial respiration. •
The life!guarrds certainly need
a vote of thanks for their out-
standing work this summer.
Big Weekend
The past weekend was probably
the biggest .one that Grand Bend
has ever seen. Every possible
!accom modati:on, even with the in-
crease of !better accom inodation,
was taken and many disappointed
and mired ;people had to !continue
driving.
There was a record influx of
boats — from small outboard mot-
or crafts, to cruisers. Also more
said boats were around than has
ever been noticed ,before.
Good Behaviour
According to •Corrporal Neil
Ohaa•nberliadn, head of the O+PP De-
tachment at Grand Bend, there,
was !excellent conduct throughout
the resort this weekend and a
minimum of minor prosecutions,
probably :the lowest an years.
