Vote On Hog Marketing Plan Carries,
Huron County Fails to Support
Official results• for the province
were not available yesterday.
However, preliminary ,figures re-
leased shortly ;after the Last polls
were heard from indicated that 68
percent of the hog producers tin
Ontario (that voted) do favour
the hog marketing plan.

Rousing Welcome at Grand

to Grand Bend on Thursday after-
noon :in a civic reception marking
her appearance at the Lions Club -
sponsored "Holiday B:atLt". Earlier
an the day Miss Fairfax flew herr
own plane and landed at Centralia
RCAF Station.
Tihe singer arrived at the !beach
!bandstand for the welcoming cere-
un.tumy at the head sof a 'colorful
parade. The :procession included
.Air .Force bandsmen from; Centra-
lia,
Miss Fairfax was presented
with the keys to the village by
Reeve James Dalton:. She also
received a bouquet of flower. from
Miss Debbie Thomas, a young re-
sixlenit of'the resort.
Others who spoke during the
oerenvorides included tlhe warden
of I.nbtan County, district mem-
bers of !parliament, the officer
commanding Centralia Station,
:Eric Mcldilroy, President of the
Grand Bend Oham!ber of Com-
merce, and William Schelegel the
president of Grand Bend Lions
Club.
Aliso on the welcoming commit-
tee were Bfil!1' Cochrane and WeI-
wood Gill, members of the village
council, Murray Desjarldiime, vil-
lage clerk, :and MTs. Schelegel.
Miss Fairfax entertained the
crowd with a sonig at the close
of the reception. Lionel 'Thornton

There were 4,466 farun:ers elig-
ible to vote in Huron County, and
of these :only 2,782 went to the
pals. 29 spoiled ballots were dis-
carded. There were a total of
1,661 producers voting "yes" and
1,092 voting "no.".
In Huron County there was 59.7
percent of those voting, who
marked their ballots "yes" in fav-

Small Twister Hits Erb Farm
Upsets Building and Machinery
A. ;freak tornado, which caused
damage at the farm et Albert Erb,
en th,e Bronson Line west of Zu-
r'i'ch, accompanied the electrical
storm which hit this :district on
Monday afternoon.
Damaged by the small twister
were two, large wagons, which
were sitting :on the north, side of
the ±barn., a small building and a
tree !located on the south side of
the barn. The winds hit with such
force that they carried both wag -
:one about 50 feet before upsetting
them. The wagons would weigh
close to one ton each.
The little building which was
thrown over by the force was car-
ried about 15feet before ,being
upset. The tree, which was be-
side the !building, was badly split
by the forceful winds,
Mr. Erb was in town at the
time of the latorm, and did not
know anything had hit his farm

report of damage from this twist-
er has been received in the district:

Dr. Am W. Klahsen Arriving in October
Through the efforts of the Zu-
rich and District Chamber of Com-
merce ;and other community mind-
ed citizens, this ,disttrict will again
have ,the services of a medical
practitioner beginning October 1.
Dr. A. W. Klahsen, presently do-
ing post graduate work at West-
minster Hospital, London, will be
opening an office in the Hess

school at the Kitchener -Waterloo
Collegiate Institute. He studied
medicine at the University of
Western, Ontario in London; where
he .graduated as a medical doctor
fin 1954, Since that time Dr. S5lah-
sen has been doling extensive' post-
graduate work at' Victoria, West-
minster and St. Joseph's hospit-

Nursing. They have one young
daughter, Ruth.
Both Dr. Klahsen and Mrs.
Kdalzsen have had a keen desire
to move into some small, rural
community such as Zurich, and
they were very happy .to be able
to accept the [invitation to ooane
to this district. They hope to be
moving to Zurich sometime to
September, and will reside in the
apartment above the doctor's of,
Tice.
Barn Raising Bee
At Campbell Eyre's
Neighbours of Campbell Byre,
whose .barn burned down recentily,
pitched in on Saturday to hell
hem with a !barn -raising bee.
The nei!ghbour's needed only one
day to erect the superstructure
of a building 36 X 75 feet. An-
other section, 36 X 54 feet, wh!L1
b,e added after the harvest to
complete an L-shaped barn.
The .barn had been completely
lost in a fire a couple of months
ago, and the work was rushed
along to be finished in time for
the harvest.
