Water Highway.
Miss Julene Ducharme, London,
who is spending a few weeks
with her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lean Jeffrey on the Bron-

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rau of
the Drysdale /district, and Mrs.
Frank Denornme motored to Win-
dsor on Friday last to spend the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Bedard and other relatives of that
City.
Mr. and Mrs.Cyril Ducharme,
Windsor, spent a weeks vacation
with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Ducharme; they
also visited with other .friends
and relatives. Mr. Ducharme is
an engineer in the Purity Milk
Products and an ousting in the
country means much, especially
.at this time of year.
Farmers are fairly well on with
their haying and some fields have
been ,put away without main. Other
fields dost much of their value
due to wet and broken weather.
Grain crops pass the average this
year and if nothing springs up
to upset expectations we believe a't
will be •on:e of 'the best. The beams
crop has been retarded by the cold
and dry :spring, however 'being a
Tate crop there is still time for
improvement.
Miscellaneous Shower
A very enjoyahle vening, and
as well a helping one, was spon-
sored by the ladies of this neigh-
bourhood. The occasion was a
miscellaneous shower given to
Mrs. Peter Milne, Lucian. It was
hid et the home of Mr. and Mrs&
Leon Bedard on Wednesday even-
ing last, and 23 women attended.
The gifts were beautiful and use-
ful and will be appreciated by
the one intended for as well. as
the parents.
After the gifts were opened
and shown to -those present they
were :then; Placed away to be ,giv-
en to the lbenefioi:ary at a later
date as they were not present.
The evening was then open for
chatting, games and what all 'to
make it pleasing to all. The lad-
ies
adies had at their disposal the liv-
ing :room and other parts, while
the ►ntleanen took their •place in
the basement for their chit chat
and card games.
In he closing moments of the
party a dainty lunch was served
to a' 1. Good wishes were extended
to the party concerned and they
also thanked Mrs. Bedard and
those who helped to make the ev-
ening a pleasant one. Commenting
on the shower affair; it is a sane
and benefical one to the recipient.
It ,also means a few well spent
hours with friends andneighbours
and is also interesting to hear each
ones little story and helpful sug-
gestions. :Coanmuni ties should be
encouraged to pout this act into
effect, and practise, when the oc-
casion arises. Lf ,dome with a good
spirit the deed will spread to oth-
er sources in life.
