Huron. County
Farming Report
(By Douglas H. Miles, agricult-
ural representative for
Huron County)
"Rains of 'the past week have
aided most farm, crops. Moisture
conditions are however not ample.
Cold weather is retarding optim-
um growth. Hoed crops are com-
peting with twitch, where pres-
ent, as the latter which is deep
rooted is growing faster than the
intended crop.
"Hay crop is light, some cut-
ting and bailing is taking place.
There is very little grass that
will be ensiled.
"Spring .grains are corning into
head and fall wheat is progress-
ing favourably with a fair amount
of height.
"Milk cows are producieg heav-
ily. The pasture is short but is
of high quality with a small a-
mount 'going a long way."
ATTENTION
TEENAGERS
Pat Boone won't go along. Why
should you? "All through an ex-
ample set by me, a single boy or
girl became a drunkard, how do
you suppose I would feel ?" We
quote Pat in a recent article.
At 22, Pat has founts a way to
stir the blood of teen-agers. But
he is particular about the kind of
job he accepts. He turned down
two offers by cigarette companies
and a third by a brewer.
"I realized these people wanted
me because of my influence with
teen-agers. I am personally op-
posed to both smoking and drink-
ing and do not want to be respon-
sible for influencing anyone else
in taking them up."
"What I do carries my stamp of
approval with millions of young-
sters who often pay me the trib-
ute of imitation. Among those who
would drink because I do would
be some who, without knowing it,
are vulnerable to drink."
