Roads and Bridges
$800,000 has been earmarked
for road and bridge construction
and maintenance this year

Ifeaith Unit Report
The ,director of the Huron
County Health Unit, Dr. R. M.
A1dis, gave a report of the year's
activities of the unit. He told the
County Council that one percent
of all; taxes collected in Huron
was spent on hearth services.
The unit 'incurred it's expenses
through family and achiral hearth
services, environment sanitation
work and distribution of -vaccines
in child health conferences and
test clinics.

hospitalization" said the

"We further recommend that the
County Home committee be given
authority to proceed with the
preparation of plans for the pro-
posed addition for :later submis-
sion to council."
At the time the present addi-
tion to ;the home was built, a
master plan was prepared which
provided' for future expansion. The
architect is to contact the. Dep-
artment of Welfare at Toronto
wih a view to ,proceeding with
the ,proposed addition.
During a period of four years
the number of people at the Huron
County Home has increased from
66 to 103 with every indication
of further increases.
Increase Pay
Committee members of rthe
County Council wi l get half again
as much as they have ibeen, paid
for attending meetings. County
Council decided ,to increase. renu-
meration from $8 to $12, plus
mileage.

1/4 cup shortening
2 cup's wafers rolled fine
94. crap white sugar
2 teas,poons baking powder
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup cocoanut
11/2 ccup chopped dates
milk
1. Mix cream, shortening
sug-
ar until ligarra ht
2. Add ,beaten
en• egggg, fluffy.

3. Mix cracker crumbs and bak-
ing powder.
4. Add to first mixture.
5. Bake for 45 minutes in a square
tin.
OATMEAL CAKES

1 cup quick -cooking oatmeal
1 cup boiling water
'Met this stand 14 minutest
11/2 caps brown sugar
1/ teaspoon ground cloves
% cup raisins or dates
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup. flour
Add to oatmeal and beat. Bake
in 325 degree oven.
MIRACLE WHIP
CHOCOLATE CAKE

1 cup sugar
1 cusp miracle whip
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
4 tablespoons cocoa.
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cold water
L Mix all dry ingredients togeth-
er.
2. Cream, sugar, mayonnaise and
vanilla.
3. Add dry ingredients to sugar
mixture, alternately ulth 1
cup of water.
4. Bake in loaf 150 degrees for
40 minutes or layer for 30 min-
utes.

Mrs. R. C. Walker, St. George,
Provincial Convener of Historical
Research and Current Events con-
ducted the workshop and gave
suggestions for the compiling of
the history books and had on ex-
hibit books from the provincial
and her local branch.
She commented on the books
each institute convener brought,
Which indicated a splendid re-
search is being carried on by the
manybranches who are continual-
ly at work on the Tweedsmuir
Histories.
