Mrs. McLean, Wingham, spent
several 'days lvi'tlh her daughter
and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Westlake and family.
We are glad to report that
Mas. James Carrie who has been
on the sick list this past couple
of weeks, is able to be up again
and is improving slowly.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas West-
lake, motored to Wingharn on
Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Keith
Westlake and enjoyed the day
at the Trade Fair there.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Twen-
tymen, Lynn, Susan. and Cleave,
Waukegan, Illinois, arrived on
Monday to spend a week with
and Mrss, Paul Cleave, Bayfield.
Richie and Brian Mustard, who
are at present staying with Mr.
and Mrs. Gladwin Westlake, spent
the weekend with their parents
Mr. and Mrs Archie Mustard, at
the home of their grandmother
Mrs. Hey, Blake.
Celebrate Birthday
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Westlake,
Bayfield, Mr. and Mrs. John Keys
Shirley, Douglas: and Elva, Varna,
and Mrs, Thomas Snowden were
Sunday visitors at ,the hone of
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Grainger.
The accession being Mrs, Thomas
Snowden's 82 birthday.
Family Reunion
On Saturday afternoon a very
enjoyable event took place at ;the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Merino
Steckle when all his; brothers and
sisters and their families met for
a family reunion. A picnic dinner
was enjoyed by 51 members. of
these families with 27 more un-
able to be :present.

Lutheran Ladies
Study and Practice
New Liturgy
The June meeting of the Ladies'
Aid of St. Peter's Lutheran Church
was held in the church basement
last Tuesday night, and was very
well attended. The program open-
ed with the singing of two hymns;
the reading responsively of Psalm
III, and a prayer. A recording of
the new liturgy which all the
Lutheran churches in the Canada
Synod will be using was heard,
and then practised, with Mrs.
Winter and Mrs. Jack Turkheim
in charge.
The president, Mrs. Finkbeiner
was in charge of the business ses-
sion, and the secretary, Mrs. Ed.
Datars read the minutes of the
last meeting. Mrs. Anne Turk -
beam, treasurer, gave a report,
and the report of the visiting
committee was given by Mrs. Al-
bert Hess. Plans for the Vaca-
tion Church School were discus-
sed. .An invitation to be guests
of the WSWS and Ladies' Aid of
the Evangelical U.B. Church, was
accepted.
The Ladies' Aid catered for the
Hess -Green wedding on Saturday,
and will also cater for a banquet
for the Guides and Brownies to
be held in the church basement
on June 25.
The meeting adjourned with the
praying of the Lord's Prayer.
Lunch was served by convener
Mrs. Wes Hugill and her com-
mittee.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ducharme
were Sunday Last visitors„ with
Mr. and Mrs. Avila. Ducharme.
Miss Martha Ducharme, 15th
Com. is .employed at the home of
Mrs. Josephine Ducharme for a
few weeks.
Mrs. Leonard Jeffery, Goderich
spent a few days with her mother
and brother on this !highway.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Quigly, Det-
roit, spent a few days in their
cottage south of St. Joseph the.
past week. They spend much of
their time at the cottage.
Mr. Norman Gerom mette, Lon-
don, was a Sunday last visitor
with Mr and Mrs. Rerni Den -
attune, Drysdale, also calling on
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ducharme on
his return.
Mrs. Anthony Masse, Goderich,
:and Mrs. Ed. Corniveau of thit
highway, motored to Landon on
Friday last. While din the city
they visited vcnith their aunt Mrs.
Regis, Denomme, formerly of this
parish. Mrs. D.enomme is in res-
idence in, St. Maxi's Hospital suf-
fering from the weight of years,
being in her 94th. year. She was
in the prime of her life, active -
and ambittious, a hard worker,
and not tearing the worst in life.
.Commenting on her ripe. age, the
robustbody .she once possessed
is 'gradually fading away, so they
report; and as time waits on no
one each day plays its role, and
each day ane feels rbhe effect of
age, !and no one can turn 'back
the pages of time. We can only
wish Mrs. Denomrne and others
in their declining years, Gods
greatest blessing for their past
work.
Brother Gerard
On Sunday last word was re-
cived; of the passing of Brother
Gerard in St. Bonaventure Mon-
astery, Detroit, an his 55th year.
Brother Gerard was the victim
of cancer. He went .through sev-
eral operations wroth the hope of
.receiving some relief, but all prov-
ed fruitless, only leaving sxtfer-
ing which he endured with. the,
greatest patience.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs..
Dave Gerornthette and known in
his early years es; "Joe". dike
many other young boys he tra v-
olled about in the world 'taking -
in .the sights of ]:ife and working
at different kinds of jobs. in
the .summer of 1931, in the month
of July, when he had passed his:
27th year he decided to enter
into a religious order. He .then
entered St. Bonaventure Monast-
ery in Destroist to become a Cap-
uchin Brother and known from,
then an as Brother Gerard. He
was first stationed at Detroit
then was transferred to other fiel-
ds of the ander. Brother Gerard'
was of a saintly character and
many approached him for advice
.and seeking relief for their all
mlents, by his intercession and
!prayers.
Brother Gerard passed peace-
fully away on Saturday ]asst June
7, fifteen minutes before mid-
night. He will be buried an the
Monastery burial grounds on Wed-
nesday morning June 17. He
leaves to mourn his. loss, two sis-
ters, Louise, Mrs. Remi. Denamrne
Drysdale, and Jennie, Mrs. Paul
Masse, Windsor; five brothers,.
Ivan and Leonard, Detroit, and
Napoleon, Dave, and Nartnan, Lo-
ndon. Our deepest sympathy goes
to the bereaved family.
