Correspondent)
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Manson,
George Walton and Howard Mar-
cellus, Midland, were recent visit-
ors with Mr. and Mrs. Newell
Geiger and Mrs. Manson.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Stelck, Dash-
wood, spent Wednesday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Newell
Geiger and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Heinz Benedictus,
Sarnia, were guests at the Ging-
erich-Steckle wedding Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gingerich
were Sunday guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Edmund Erb.
Those attending from a distance
at the Gingerich-Steckle wedding
were: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith,
Markham Mr. and Mrs. Enos Mar-
tin, Elmira; Mr. and Mrs. Kees
Koster, Maple; Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Schwartzentruber, New Hamburg;
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Gingerich,
London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Gingerich.
and family spent Sunday at Baden,
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schwindt,
Baden, spent the weekend in and
around Blake.
Mr. Gustav Bohn was a Sunday
guest with Mr. and Mrs. Amos
Edward Weltin
A former Zurich blacksmith for
many years, Edward Weltin, pas-
sed away in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, on Wednesday, June 4.
He had been a patient there for
several weeks.
Mr. Weltin was born in Dash-
wood on January 14, 1883, and
was in his 76th year. In 1922 and
1923 he operated a blacksmith
sl qp in !Clifford. However he spent
the biggest part of his time in
Zurich, and was a resident at the
Dominion Hotel.
Surviving are one brother, Al-
bert, Victoria, B.C.; and one sister,
Olivia Rosendahl, St. Therese, Que.
The body rested at the Westlake
funeral home until Friday morn-
ing ,when Requiem Mass was held
in St. Boniface R.C. Church, Zur-
ich. Interment was in the church
cemetery, the Rev. Father Doyle
officiating.

and family spent Sunday with the
latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Amos Gingerich.
Mr. Simon Jantzi, Lauvale, New
York, spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Erb.

As warmer weather approaches
our tastes will turn toward fancy
dishes, such as the two we are
featuring today, given us by Mrs,
Keith Gingerich.
From now on we hope the wea-
ther will be suitable for picnics,
etc. How about some recipes for
salads, or any other special picnic
dishes ? Just send them along in,
we will be happy to use them in
our column.
CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW
SQUARES
(Mrs. Keith Gingerich)
Melt 1/2 cup butter with 2 table-
spoons cocoa slowly.
2 eggs well beaten
1. cup white sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 cup walnuts
pinch of salt.
Combine the ingredients in bowl
and add the cocoa mixture.
Spread in pan and bake 30 min-
utes at 300 degrees. Place 24
marshmallows, cut in half on cake.
Return to oven for 3 minutes.
When cool ice with 1 square un-
sweetened chocolate, milk, butter
and 11/2 cups icing.
WHIPPED CHOCOLATE
ICING

3 tablespoons butter
2 square chocolate, unsweetened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1/a. cup milk
1 whole egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/h teaspoon vanilla
Melt butter and chocolate together.
Place sugar, milk, egg, salt, van-
illa and chocolate mixture in a
bowl. Place bowl in ice water and
beat icing until it holds its shape.
