GRAHAM WAFER PIE
20 (only) Graham wafers rol-
led fine
% cup brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
Mix together and remove 1/2 cup
of mixture for top of pie, using
balance to line bottom of tin or
pie plate.
Filling:
2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons corn starch
Cook until thick and spread on
wafer crust while hot. Then beat
2 egg whites stiff and beat in 3
tablespoons of icing sugar. Spread
on top of filling. Sprinkle over
top, remainder of crumbs and bake
until top is light brown.

PINEAPPLE SALAD
Take a 20 oz. can crushed pine-
apple and heat 1 cup of the pine-
apple juice with 1/4 cup of white
sugar and 1 tblsp. vinegar, pour
this over 1 pkg. lime jello. When
partly cool add 2 small cream
cheese softened with 1 cup coffee
cream, 1 cup crushed pineapple
and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Put in
refrigerator in a shallow pan un-
til set, then cut in squares and
serve on lettuce with salad dres-
sing.

FRUIT SALAD DRESSING
4 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
11/2 tablespoon flour
1 egg
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon butter
Mix all ingredients except butter,
in order given, thoroughly. Cook
slowly, stirring constantly, prefer-
ably with a wooden spoon, until
the dressing is thickened and
smooth, add butter. Cool and
serve.
1/2 pint whipped cream may be
mixed with the above dressing
just before serving it.

6 cups flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
(not 2 teaspoons)
1 teaspoon salt
1 lb. lard or shortening
1 egg, beaten with
2 teaspoons vinegar (not
tablespoons).

Anniversary Service
The Young People's Union of
Varna and Goshen United Chur-
ches held a very successful anni-
versary service in the Goshen Unit-
ed Church on Sunday evening,
June 1. This was their first anni-
versary and it is hoped to be con-
tinued every year about this time.
Rev. A. McKim of Wesley -Willis
United Church, Clinton, was the
guest minister, assisted by Rev. T.
3. Pitt. Donna Hayter was organ-
ist for the whole service. The
Psalm selection was read by Bob
McClymont and the lesson by
the president, Douglas Armstrong.
Miss Clara Clark and Rev. Pitt
sang a duet "Dear Spirit, Lead
Me", and an anthem "Good Mor-
row" was sung by the choir, which
was all young people. Douglas
Armstrong presented Goshen
Church with hymn books on behalf
of the Young People's Union.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McBride,
Detroit, spent the weekend at his
farm home on the Town Line,
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Keys spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George
Cantelon.

Mrs. Joseph Foster
Mrs. Joseph Foster passed a-
way on Saturday, May 31, 1958,
at South Huron Hospital, fow-
ling a short illness. The former
Edith Gerber, she was born in
Chatham on March 19, 1888.
Surviving besides her husband
are one sister, Mrs. Alex (Marg-
aret) Legue, 'Chatham.
The body rested at the West-
lake funeral Thome, Zurich, until
Monday, when Requiem Mass was.
held .att St. Boniface R. C. Churtch,
Zurieh, with interment at St.
Boniface R. C. Cemetery. 'The
Rev. P.oisson, Drysdale, officiated.

Mrs. Thomas Snowden returned
to her home after spending the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. A.
Westlake, Bayfield.
Miss Elaine Grainger, Clande-
boye, spent the weekend at her

Mr, and Mrs. Nelson Tiernan,
Mrs. Ann Dean, Stratford; Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Cook and Janet,
London, spent the weekend at
Cedar Grove, Bayfield. Mr. and
Mrs. Tieman are renovating the
dining room of their restaurant
and hope to have it completed
soon. At present they are open
only on weekends.
Celebrate Birthday
Visitors with Mrs. James Carnie
on the occasion of her 81st birth-
day on May 28 included: Mr. and
Mrs. E. A. Westlake, Mrs, Thomas
Snowden, Mr. and Mrs, Bert Dunn
Jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Greer and family, Mr. and Mrs.
H. 0. Dayman
Word was received of the sud-
den death of Herman 0. Dayman,
434 Dufferin Ave., London, lin
Victoria Hospital last Sunday. Mr.
Dayman was a former well-known
Hensall businessman.
Survivingare his widow the for-
mer Winnifred Miller, and four
brothers, Alivvyn, Grand Bend;
Wesley, Sarnia; Mervyn and Cres-
cent, Exeter. Funeral services
were held from the Hopper -Hock-
ey funeral home, Eketer, on Wed-
nesday, May 28, interment was in
Exeter cemetery.

Leaves Hospital
Miss Rose Snowden who has
been a patient in Clinton Public
Hospital for the past five weeks,
was able to leave there on Mon-
day and is staying at the home of
her nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Hudie in Clinton.
Miss Leeta Penhale, Mrs. Don
Begg, Mrs. Nell LeCourtoise, St,
Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. West-
lake, Mrs. Thomas Snowden visit-
ed on Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Grainger.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner
and family, Bayfield, were SundaY
visitors with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Turner.
Surprise Party
Miss Rose Snowden was pleas-
antly surprised on Saturday after-
noon when Mrs. Harvey Gelinas,
Gerard Gelinas and friend, Lon-
don, arrived to help her celebrate
her 83rd birthday at Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital. Mrs. Gelinas brought
with her a cake, complete with
candles, and ice cream for lunch.
Miss Snowden also received num-
erous cards and gifts.
Mrs. Robert Talbot has retuned
from Clinton Public Hospital to
her home with her infant son.
Mrs. Walter Turner, Debbie ad
Stewart returned horne on Sunslay
after spending several days viith
her sister and brother-in-law, Ma,
and Mrs. Hugh Millar and family
Londesboro.
James Street United Church,
Exeter, was the setting for a
pretty wedding when Mary Lou
McCoy and James Howard Hyde
exchanged marriage vows before
the Rev. H. J. Snell. The bride
is the daughter of Mrs. Erma
Lowery, Exeter, and the late Al-
exander McCoy, and the groom
is the son a Mrs. Alvin Pym,
Exeter, and the late Howard
Hyde.
The bride wore a waltz-ilength
gown of hand-cliiipped chantilly
aiace and net over duchess satin
featuring short sleeves, sabrina
neckline embroidered with seed
pearls and sequins and bouffant
skirt. A jewelled satin and lace
bridal hat held her shoulder leng-
th, veil and she carried red roses
and lay -of -the -valley. mounted on
a white Bible.
Mrs. Murray Brintnell attended
her sister as matron of honor,
gowned in blue lace over taffeta.
Plower girls were Brenda Brint-
nell and Lynda Lowery, sister of
the bride, wearing blue and peach
nylon frocks respectively.

For travelling the bride donned
a mint green ensemble with black
and white accessories., The couple
