DROP OATMEAL COOKIES
1.=/4 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
14 teaspoon: soda
1 teaspoon saint.
3 cup butter (or / margar-
ine; and 1/2 of other short-
ening)
1,
cup white, sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon varnil$a.
21/2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup chopped nuts
cup chopped dates or rais-
ins or cocoanut
Sift together flour, baking pow-
der, soda and salt. Cream well
the butter, gradually add the sug-
ar; then add eggs and vanilla and
beat well; then stir in the sifted
ingredients, add oatmeal and nuts.;
unix well. Drop by teaspoon onto
lightly buttered 'baking sheet.
Bake at 375° for 12-15 minutes.

with children in mid to eat .them,
I omit the nuts and add a round-
ed cup of corn flakes,.

Agricultural Society

meeting in the Town Hall, Bay-
fieitd, on Wednesday evening, May
21, with a fair attendance. Gen-
eral business and a discussion on I
the revising of the .prize dist and
the printing of the books took

Rad Fire
A large henhouse and a barn
were :destroyed by fire on Sun-
day

Ken Etiue, Seafiorth, and occupied
by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Denomme.
Both Zurich and Bayfield fire dep-
artments answered the call but
were unable to save the buildings,
