ST. JOSEPH'S—DRYSDALE
(By Al. Fred Ducharme)
Sunday was observed as Moth-
er's Day throughout the land, and
as years go by, duldren and oth-
ers realize that their greetings
are not in vain. At all times
mothers have given their children
a watchful eye; they have helped
them when lin want and distress
and give ahem words of consola-
tion when they needed it most.
Mothers are always ready to share
the burdens of their children, and
help them .to carry all of their
burdens that face each and every
one .of us tin Me.
A mother's greatest reward in
life as when she can render service
to members of her family. Moth-
er's Day should not only be a day
set aside by aujthority to offer her
greetings and gifts, but should be
a .daily custom to show respect
for her.
At the present time we report
much sickness in this vicinity;
adults as well as children are
stricken with a sort of virus that
requires' medical attention and is
hard to shake off.
Many of the people who have
cottages ialong the lake have been
occupying thein over the past
weekend. Perhaps they have been
cleaning them, getting ready for
the summer season, but the
weather was not too pleasant for
vacationing.
Mother's Day visitors in this
district were: Mr. and Mrs. Mor-
ley Fournier and children, Lon-
don, with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Cor-
riveau; Mrs. Theresa Hartman
and sons, Zurich, with Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Ducharane; and Mr.
and Mrs. Avila Ducharme and
family with .their parents. All
the homes along the highway
were well represented with child-
ren honouring their mothers.
Mrs. Josephine Ducharme and
Isadore, motored rto Goderich on
Sunday to enjoy a Mother's Day
dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard

Campaign Under Way
The campaigns for funds for the
edition to the Motherhause for
the Sisters of the Ursuilone in
.Chathham are well under way.
Due to the increasing number of
young girls entering the school, it
has been necessary to build an ad-
dition to the school, and an appeal
for help to finance the project
has been launched in this Diocese.
As yet the response is not known,
but we believe it will be satisfac-
tory.
