The meet- ing opened with the Institute Ode, followed by the Lord's Prayer and Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs, Menno Oesch, who occup- ied the chair, welcomed the visit- ors and the new Canadian ladies; after which she gave a paper, on "Mother" ---"What She means to the Home". Lorne Arnecher ren- dered .two very fine solos "God Give Us Homes" and "Sundown". He was accompanied on the piano by his .mother. Mrs. William Hay gave a read- ing on "Mothers" emphasising the thought that girls are quite the same now as their mothers were. Mrs. Robert Simpson, from Hensel], gave a talk an Mother's Day. She felt that Mother's Day should be every day of 'the year. Mrs. Newell Geiger gave some fine ,poems in harmony with the theme of the program "Mothers." Mrs. John Manson, the oldest mother in the society, was part- icularly honoured. Mrs. Meana Oesoh called Mrs. Manson, to the .front where a decorated chair was waiting for her and she gave a brief outline of Mrs. Manson's life. She was born. December 7, 1881, and was the oldest member of a family of ten, eight girls and two brays and they are all living now, with the exception of one sister. Mrs. Manson who was Mary Ken- nel, was, and still is, a real mother to all her brothers and sisters and all down the years has shown. a keen, helpful Christian way of liv- ing to all those near and dear to her. She was married May 11, 1910, to John Manson at Varna. Rev. Thomas Davidson officiating. Mrs. Manson has always been a loving ikinid mother to five boys and two .girls, Gordon; Lorne (who died when on a trip to the west), William; Isobel; Donald; Russell and Beatrice. She was an Institute member in Blake before joining the Zurich society. Mrs. Manson: has ,been a faithful member here for over 40 years. Irrespective of rain, sleet or snow she has missed very few meetings in all those years. She was pleasantly surprised with the gift of a beautiful orchid as a .taken of the esteem with which she is held by the members and the best washes for continued good :health, happiness and pros- perity. Mrs. Leonard Erb presided over the business and Mrs. Bannister was appointed' press correspond- ent. The committee, Mrs. William Hay, Mrs. Tom Meyers and Mrs. Menno Oesoh served lunch and a social hour was spent. NOTICE We Wish To Advise The Public That MRS. At the last regular meeting of Scouts, an inspection of uniforms, shoes and hands was held. The results were goad, .but there is still room for improvement. We reviewed the second class test, which consists of six exer- cises. Up to now we halve review- ed the compass test, bycle test and headlight rules. Next week the boys will be given a chance to pass their test for their second class badge. At 7.30 the Scouts were given pamphlets advertising their pap- er drive, and they went around to every house distributing them. Plains were also made to have a candy sae last Saturday, and this was very successful. The rate set for aur summer camp was five dollars per week, with a chance that it may be stili lower if our next paper drive goes over •well. At the Court of Honour, held after the meeting we discussed what equipment will be needed for our summer camp. The Boy Scouts wish to thank all the peo- ple who helped 5:n the paper drive last week.
