Worth a penny at the most, what

Stephen. Township
To Licence Trailers
People who live in mobile homes
in Stephen Township will be re-
quired to pay a license as their
contribution towards the cost of
municipal services they enjoy.
At a special meeting last week,
Stephen council passed first and
second readings of a bylaw which
levies a .fee of $5 a month on the
owners or occupants of such ac-
commodation.
The bylaw is similar to those
which have come into effect re-
cently in municipalities throughout
the ,province as a method of leyy-
ing taxes against persons using
this type of dwelling. Incorpora-
tion of such bylaws has been en-
couraged by the Canadian Mobile
Home Association which recognizes
that home trailer users should
contribute toward the cost of
rence, Stephen Mack, Larry Mer-
ner, Earl Wagner and Cameron
Witmer passed their tender pack
tests. The meeting then closed
with the Lord's Prayer.
At a special meeting of the
Court of Honour, held after the
regular meeting, it was decided to
hold a candy sale on Saturday,
with the proceeds to go towards
a summer camping trip.
At this time I would like to, on
behalf of the First Zurich Boy
Scout Troop, thank all those who
helped with the paper drive last
Friday. Also thanks to those who
so kindly gave their papers, the
drive was a great success.
Until we see you again next
week, this is your Scoutmaster
saying "GOOD SCO•UTING."
municipal services.
The bylaw provides that the
owners or persons in possession of
such trailers shall pay the fee.
However, persons on whose land
the trailers are located are jointly
liable.
A penalty of not less. than $10
and not more than 850 is provided
anyone who contravenes the bylaw.
There are not many house trail-
ers in Stephen. Most of those wino
use them are airmen, construction
workers or summer vacationers,
