Twenty-four members answered
the March roil call, "name an
outmoded household article." Mrs.
Ammold Kuntz, president, presided,
for the business.
It was decided to send a dele-
gate to the Tweedsmuir History
workshop. $.10 is to be sent to
Ceylon for flood relief,
Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan and Mrs.
Harvey Hoffman are the new 4-H
Club Leaders, Nominating com-
mittee for a slate of officers is:
Mrs. Glen Webb, Mrs. Charles
Snell and Mrs. Emil Becker. Mrs.
Ernest Koehler and Mrs. Wilfred
Merner were appointed to pack
and send three layettes donated by
members for Arab children.
Mrs. Leonard Schenk, convener
of Historical Research., was chair -
lady. Mrs. Charles Snell discus-
sed the motto "Do not walk this
year in last year's ruts." Mrs.
Lloyd Eagleson. had as her ,topic
"Yesterday and today." Every-
one enjoyed a sing song of Irish
songs.
The 4-H Club girls were guests
and modelled their skirts. Ilse
Gulens and Mary Jane Hoffman
demonstrated " New life for the
old skirt." The leaders Mrs. Sid
Baker and Mrs. Ervin Devine were
presented with plaques by the In-
stitute. Mrs. Schenk conducted
contests.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Kretzman,
Detroit, spent the weekend with
the tatter's mother Mrs. Cora
Gaiser.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Weiberg,
and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Weiberg, Waterloo, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Wei.berg,
Miss Erma Wein, Clinton, spent
the weekend with Mrs. Cora Gais-
er.
Miss Barbara Becker and friend
spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. V. L. Becker.
Douglas Hamather and Peter
Irwin, London, spent the weekend
at Dashwood.
Mr. and Mrs. David Baird, Lon-
don, spent Sunday with Mrs, M.
Piefer.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Reed and
son, Kitchener, and Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Fritzley, Goderich, were
weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs.
James Hayter.
A very successful auction sale
of the estate of the late Mr. John
Bender, was held last Saturday,
with Milton. Ilaugh purchasing the
property.
Men's. Club
Dashwood Zion Lutheran Chur-
ch Men's Club was host to Strat-
ford, Monkton and Logan Men's
Club, last Monday evening. Forty
men were present. Dart base-
ball was played followed by a pool-
ed lunch,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamather
and Kathy, spent the weekend at
Southampton with Mr. and. Mrs.
Gordon Eagleson.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader and
Darlene and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Rader, Kenneth and Richard, were
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Ebner Rader.

Jarvis Horton.

Residents of Hensel] and com-
munity were shocked on learning
of the sudden passing of Jarvis
Horton, a prominent and highly
esteemed resident of the village,
,ho died suddenly in South Hur-
on District Hospital, EXeter, on
Sunday evening. He had been ad-
mitted earlier in the day with a
heart seizure.
In his 73rd year, he was born
in Tuckersmith, a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horton. Fol-
lowing his marriage, he farmed on
highway 4, between Kippen and
Brucefield, retiring to Hensall 11
years ago.
He was an active member of
the United Church, an honorary
elder, a former member of the
choir for many years, and a for -
I, mer Sunday School teacher.

former Olive Mitchell, one son,
Stuart, Montreal, two grandchild-
ren, one sister, Mrs. Grace Har-
Hensall. Public funeral ser-
vices are being held on Wednesday
