The directors recommended a drive to cut accounts receivable, which total $73,500, by half to use the funds to start a revolv- ing fund to pay off patronage loans starting with those in 1946. Construction of more storage space at Brucefield was also re- commended, Russell Grainger, Zurich, was returned as a director to the board and two new directors, Alex McBeath, RR 3, Kippen, and Lloyd Walper, RR 1, Dashwood, were named to replace president Mc- Gregor and Donald Hendrick, who have completed six years on the board. Illustrating the various nation- al desires of foreign countries, Dr. Semple outlined conditions in Ger- many, Russia, Africa, Japan, China and other countries which were seeking to extend their boun- daries for economic or politica! reasons. "There must be a new spirit come to humanity or all those things we have discovered will bring about our destruction." He urged the co-op members to seek better understanding with new Canadians and to bury their prejudices over faith and race. The speaker was introduced by Alex McGregor and appreciation was expressed by Russell Grain- ger. A group from London entertain- ed and Delbert Geiger and Mrs. Harry Hess led in a sing -song dur- ing the banquet.
