"We must develop a new spirit,
new service, an urgency of good
will and friendship." he said. "to
;prevent total destruction," The
minister made a strong plea for
development of understanding
among nations, races and religions.
Canadians must study "larger
maps," he said, "Unless we do it,
we are dommed."
Illustrating the various nation-
al desires of foreign countries, Dr.
Semple outlined conditions in Ger-
many, Russia, Africa, Japan,
China and other countries which
were seeking to extend their boun-
daries for economic or politica!
reasons.
"There must be a new spirit
come to humanity or all those
things we have discovered will
bring about our destruction."
He urged the co-op members to
seek better understanding with
new Canadians and to bury their
prejudices over faith and race.
The speaker was introduced by
Alex McGregor and appreciation
was expressed by Russell Grain-
ger.
A group from London entertain-
ed and Delbert Geiger and Mrs.
Harry Hess led in a sing -song dur-
ing the banquet.
George Clifton expressed thanks
to the Ladies Aid of Emmanuel
EUB church who served the ban-
quet and Mrs. Delbert Geiger ac-
cepted on behalf of the group.
