Feathery Cream Biscuits
(Mrs Murray Brunskill, Belmont)
1 cup sifted all -!purpose flour
21/4 teaspoons baking powder
9/4 teaspoon salt
% cup heavy cream.
Sift together flour, baking pow-
der, and salt. Make a "well" in
centre of dry ingredients and add
cream, Stir quickly until ingred-
ients are all moistened. With
lightly floured hands pat dough
into rectangles 1/2 inch thick on
cookie sheet. Cut with floured
knife into 6 squares, but do not
separate.
Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake in very hot oven (450°F)
for 12 to 15 minutes.
was shocked by a tragedy. A
teen-age boy was killed and the
general comment was, "they were
bad boys," with which I cannot
agree. Teen -.age boys are not old
enough to be bad.
I admit they had the wrong idea
of things that fateful day, but
where did they get those ideas;
certainly not from something
that happened a long way away.
When older people will set an
example there will be young peo-
ple that will follow those examp-
les. Let us not blame the young
people for something we older
people are guilty of.

2 cups white sugar
• 1 cup milk
4 teaspoons butter
Boil together for a few minutes
then add:
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup cocoanut
Cool, then roll out Graham Waf-
ers and add enough wafers until
it is thick enough to roll. Set this
away in fridge and cut in slices
as you use it.
It is a real tasty treat for child-
ren.

Dear Sister:
I received the three copies of
the new Zurich paper, which you
sent me. I have read them from
cover to cover and find they are
sure interesting.
They are certainly an up to
date and enterprising staff that
put out such a wonderful weekly.
Zurich can sure be proud of this
new paper, and I hope it will con-
tinue to be a success after such a
marvellous beginning.

Sponge Cake
(Mrs. Murray Brunski1l, Belmont)
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 cup pastry flour, after sif-
ting once
1/4 teaspoon salt
Method: Separate the whites
and the yolks of the eggs, beat
the yolks until thick and lemon
coloured; add 1/2 of the sugar
gradually and continue beating,
then add salt, lemon juice and
rind. Beat whites until stiff and
add remaining half of the sugar
and beat for 5 minutes. Combine
wth yoolk mixture; sift the flour
four times and cut and fold into
the mixture. Bake in an =greas-
ed angle cake pan in a moderate
oven 300 to 325°F for one hour

Given Surprise On
40th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. David Oesch,
Blake, were pleasantly surprised
last Thursday night, when their
family gathered to celebrate their
40th wedding anniversary with
them. Those present were, Mr.
and Mrs, Alvin Rader and family;
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Oesch and
David Carl; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Oesch.
The evening was spent playing
crokinole, after which a delicious
lunch was served. Their daugh-
ter, Mrs. Alvin Rader, presented
them with an anniversary cake.
A rocking chair was given the
couple by their family, along with
congratulations and best wishes
for the years to come. They also
received many beautiful cards.
ZURICH MAN UNDERGOING
SURGERY IN LONDON
Henry Clausius, Zurich, has
gone to St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, where he undergoes surgery
on his eyes. Dr. Charles Dyson
will perform the operation. Ev-
eryone wishes Mr. Calusius• a
speedy recovery.
